Dramatic irony, a literary device in which the audience knows something that a character or group of characters donβt, is used in this tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Sometimes, we do not understand the irony, but there are at least five examples ....
Middle of paper ....marry Romeo and will defy her father to do it. This is dramatic irony because she does not know that he is there, but the audience does. Her saying this makes him want to marry her too, and them getting married later leads up to their death.
