.... Many people who lost trust and belief in the Communist system defected to the United States and other countries. Through use of historical facts such as defection in The Hunt for Red October (THRO), Clancy is able to advance his plot. Defections for political reasons happened quite often during the Cold War. There were many defections in history starting back in World War II when famous people like Albert Einstein defected to the use because the Germans discriminated again him being Jewish (pg. 124-5, Vol. 9 Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia). The more recent occurance of defection to the US of a high ranking deputy chief of staff del Pi¤o .....

.... two frightened men hid out in the Salinas River waiting for dusk to come. When dusk arrived, the two men gathered wood and built a fire. Luckily, George had three cans of pork and beans with him in his backpack. They stayed there until morning to start walking again. George told Lennie that he heard of a ranch that was four miles ahead of them and they could get a job there. George told Lennie that if he would get into trouble at the ranch, that he should come back and hide in the bush. Sunrise had came and the two men began their walk to the ranch. Crooks is a lonely black man who has no future, but when he starts to think of how he can be a part of the dream he also gets happy and excited, until his dream is crushed. Many people of good character have to honor certin moral responibilites. George is bond by his own moral to take care care of Lennie. No one makes him do it, he just does it because it feel like the right thing to do. Candy felt like he neglected his moral responibility to shoot his own dog. Candy felt real .....

.... water. All of a sudden Santiago spotted this Dolphin sized fish. At first he thought it was a dolphin, but then noticed it's fins. It was a marlin. Santiago had hooked a marlin. He knew he had caught a big fish, but wasn't sure what type. He did not real the fish in right away. Santiago feared that the line would break because the size of the fish. He thought about increasing the tension so it would hurt the fish and it would jump out. But the line had been taut up to the very edge of the breaking point. This first god was still immoral and like the humans, except that he could live forever and did not dwell on the same surface as the humans, but god still lived in heaven, which was thought of as a tangible place in the sky, and still was thought to be in the shape of a man. Although Dorian and Basil end up hating each other, they do enjoy meeting each other for the first time. Basil finds something different about Dorian. He sees him in a different way than he sees other men. Dorian is not only beautiful to Basil, but he is also gentle and kind. This is when Basil falls in love with him and begins to paint the picture. Basil begins painting the picture, but does not tell anyone about it, including Dorian, because he knows that there .....

The specs were used to start the first fire. Without them, they have no chance of rescue. At one point in the story, Jack and Piggy began to fight and Jack hit Piggy's glasses off.
