Franny And Zooey: Childhood
Words: 646 - Pages: 3.... because his or her child has absolutely no
power in controlling the early events of their childhood. An abused child
is not at fault of the results of their childhood. A child is easily
susceptible to having the rest of his or her life ruined, such as being
emotionally scarred.
I believe this happened in Franny and Zooey's case as children. They came
from a relatively large family, consisting of two parents and seven
siblings. The Glass children had a radio talk show called the "Wise Child"
when they were younger. Such pressures put upon the children resulted in
which Zooey calls "The Wise Child complexes". He believes that they never

A Tale Of Two Cities: Sydney Carton
Words: 503 - Pages: 2.... perhaps less
important but very noticeable example is his appearance. He didn't seem to
care what people really thought about him or the way he was dressed, and
remained very calm and relaxed, maybe even carefree, most of the time he
was in court. This also gives Sydney Carton an immature appearance in the
novel.
At the beginning of the story and a large part of the novel, Sydney
Carton is shown to be a very arrogant, frustrated man with a drinking
problem. Several times in the novel he indulged in his drinking to the
point of becoming drunk or close to it. Many times that he is seen, he is
drinking wine or has a flask of liq .....

ministers appeal that the people could not believe but that Hester Prynne would
speak out the guilty name." His powerful speech shows Dimmesdale's need to

A few years later the event is again repeated. It is very similar to the

tortured Reverend Dimmesdale goes first on to the platform. He seeks a
confession of his sins a second time by calling out into the night. He then
sees Hester and Pearl coming down the street from the governor's house. As

Dunstan- “the keeper of his conscience and the stone”, Paul- whom granted
his inner most wish, and lastly, Boy Staunton himself.
It can be observed that childhood experiences play a very important
role in the stableness of ones soul. One mishap in childhood can create a
devastating blow to ones true happiness in later life. This was exactly the
case in Boy Staunton's life. Once, when he was little, he got in an
argument with Dunny which led to snowballs being launched at Dunny from an

Winston finally. Its a ruin now. It's in the middle of the street
outside the Palace of Justice.' That's right. Outside the Law Courts. It
was bombed in-oh many years ago'" (Orwell 83). This reflects Orwell's own

1984. George Orwell is famous for two major novels which attack
totalitarianism. The first is Animal Farm a satire describing the leaders
