Dystopia In Aldous Huxley's Brave New World
Words: 2012 - Pages: 8.... As technology increases, the use for
human beings in the work force decreases leaving an overwhelming amount of
depression among humans. Therefore, a way to continue the production of
technological findings is by bringing up humans from day one to accept
their unhappiness as normal. By "breeding" human beings to accept the fact
that they are born to do a specific group. Higher authorities know the
illimination of humans' emotions is useful to stabilize what they think to
be a utopian society. Huxley portrays a "perfect dystopia" where
scientists "breed people to order" in a specific class (Baker 2). The

Words: 1492 - Pages: 6.... also typifies this kind of literature. Besides the central theme of love, is another prevalent theme, that of a revolution gone bad. He shows us that, unfortunately, human nature causes us to be vengeful and, for some of us, overly ambitious. Both these books are similar in that both describe how, even with the best of intentions, our ambitions get the best ofus. Both authors also demonstrate that violence and the Machiavellian attitude of "the ends justifying the means" are deplorable.
George Orwell wrote Animal Farm, ". . . to discredit the Soviet system by showing its inhumanity and its back-sliding from ideals [he] valued . . ."(Gard .....

Hawaii By James Michener
Words: 4310 - Pages: 16.... Sea"). The final chapter deals with what Michener refers to as
"The Golden Men": Those who lived in Haw (not necessarily Hawaiians) who
contributed a great deal to the islands and their people.
Since Hawaii covers such a huge time span, there are a great many plots
and sub-plots, all of which show the different situations that each of the

specific, fictional details to support the general ideas of the islands and
their various people, that he conveys through Hawaii. I will go into more
detail about the plot in the "Documentation" section.
Michener's Hawaii is .....

Words: 2198 - Pages: 8.... the other part of
literature for me is the test of time consisting of whether the text has
been taken in by other people. After all, it isn't one person that turns a
story into a classic; the same should be said of literature. Rosenblat
said the same idea better than I: "Keeping the live process of the
literary experience before us, I shall attempt to look more deeply into the
nature of the literary experience, and to explore implications for problems
of literary theory. . ." I think that Rosenblat would agree with me that
it might not be literature in my own sense, but on the larger scale,
literature it is.

Antigone was justified in her actions.
Antigone was following divine laws, or walking with divine shoes, while Kreone followed the laws of the state. Her brother’s afterlife was so important to Antigone that she was willing to give up anything to ensure her brother’s happiness and "future" after his death. .....

Although the title of General, Sergeant, or Major may make one seem distinguished and well-learned, Heller offers a different perspective. Major Major Major, Scheisskoph and co. share one common characteristic: they are more fit to be clowns than leaders. Through portraying Major Major Major as an inefficient Major (he is unwilling to meet with those who wish to see him) whose promotion was a direct result of his name, one .....
