.... in this book that I really disliked was Jan because when her “so called friend� was in big trouble, she lied and got her in even more trouble. The second reason that I dislike Jan was because she gave Alice a Coke (Coca-Cola) with LSD in it without even warning her. Another reason I really dislike Jan is because she was going to baby sit a young child while she was high. She could have killed that young infant because of her stupidity and that really annoys me. .... an experiment which increases his intelligence in hopes of knowing more in the soul purpose of impressing people to gain friends. Unfortunately some of his anticipations were not met. The main characters in the novel include Charlie, Alice, Algernon, and Fay, a character who did not make much of an appearance, but in my eyes believed, that she played a very important part in Charlie's involvement in trying to sort out his past and figure out his present and future plans. .... are mean people that kept to them selves. "There goes the meanest man ever God blew breath into," said Calpurnia (page 12). This shows how mean people can be just by judging others by their outsides. What gives these people the right to make these kind of conclusions without ever even meeting the person(s). Later in the book the Finch children find presents hidden in a tree next to the Radley place. They can't figure out who would set these nice gifts out for them. Later they find out that is Boo Radley. He is just trying to be nice and other people won't accept his original approach on life. At one point in the book the childr .....

As the Rabbi falls farther and farther behind his son, his son runs on, pretending not to see what is happening to his father. This spectacle causes Elie to think of what he would do if his father ever became as weak as the Rabbi. He decides that he would never leave his father, even if staying with him would be the cause of his death. The German forces are so adept at breaking the spirits of the Jews that we can see the effects throughout Elie's novel. .... she is young and innocent, because of the odd things she does like constantly changing her middle name or paying for belching lessons, this she states towards the end of their conversation. One who is harden by and to the world would not take lessons in belching. A catcher in the rye is a defender or a guardian of the innocent. The idea and the name are purely symbolic. The meaning is as the children are running thorough the rye they do not see the cliffs ahead and the plummet they will make. When they make this "fall" they lose their child-like innocence. Those are just some of the materialistic terms that Thoreau uses to refer to non-materialist values, making fun of the capitalist in the process. When the boys bury the grinding ball, they bury their childhood along with it. The symbolism Ri’os used in his story illuminated the theme, which is change is unstoppable , and that change is always accompanied by loss. In the story “Miss Brill� the author Katherine Mansfield uses symbolism to reinforce and illuminate the theme. Miss Brill is a very lonely lady, she’s all alone. At a critical moment, Roland must choose between letting Jake drop and finally catching the dark man. Though it agonizes him, he watches Jake fall, Jake's last words echoing in his ears: "Go, then. There are other worlds than these." Roland eventually catches the “man in black�. The “man in black� gives the gunslinger a vision, which nearly explains the cosmos to Roland. Then Roland has his future read with tarot cards. (You know those ones the physics use, hahaha .....
