A Look At Public Key Encryption
Words: 1212 - Pages: 5.... letters from a certain number of places away. For
example, let's say we decide to use the key "+4." That would mean we'd
switch each letter in our message with the letter that comes four places
later in the alphabet. D would become H; R would become V, and so on. You,
or anyone else who knows the key can easily switch the H back to a D, the V
back to an R, and figure out where to meet. Theses two examples are on
opposite sides of the spectrum, but both have their similarities and their
differences.
The major difference complexity, the government pays mathematicians to
research complex algorithms by which to encode the messages, lik .....

Words: 594 - Pages: 3.... no matter where these students move
to, they are able to link up and find everything they need. They can find links
like "Creative Ideas", a place they can go and retrieve ideas, innovations,
inventions, patents and licensing. Once they come up with their own products,
they can find free expert advice on how to market their products. There are
easily accessible links to experts, analysts, consultants and business leaders
to guide their way to starting up their own business, careers and lives. These
experts can help push the beginners in the right direction in every field of
business, including every way to generate start up revenu .....

Computer In The Classroom
Words: 1227 - Pages: 5.... and easy for everyone who wants to use it?
Traditionally, each student sitting at a computer would have a 14" or 15" conventional monitor sitting on the desk, taking up a good 50% of the workspace. These monitors are usually greater than a .3 dot pitch or worse and some with only a 33 mHz refresh rate. According to Van Horn, a professor at Augsburg, in his essay titled Electronic classrooms: design and use, this is absolutely unacceptable for multiple reasons. Looking at a computer screen with a low resolution or refresh rate is stressful on the eyes. When students are constantly straining their eyes, according to his studies, .....

Definition Of An IP Address
Words: 213 - Pages: 1.... as both a name , which is
referred to as the domain name , and a number ( 198.137.240.100 ) , which
is generally referred to as the IP address or IP number. Most likely, the
InterNIC will assign you a Class C address, which consists of 255 unique IP
numbers for you to assign to your employees.
If you need more than 255 IP address, you can apply for a Class B
address, which will give you over 65,000 unique IP addresses. Class A
addresses are for very large companies. Both Class A and Class B addresses
are very hard, if not impossible, to get. Usually, companies will get
multiple Class C addresses.

Windows NT
Words: 1129 - Pages: 5.... sent to. Phone lines,
either fibre-optics or copper wires ones, carry most of the data packets.
Internet computers along the path switch each packet that will take it to its
destination, but no two packets need to follow the same path. The Internet is
designed so that packets always take the best available route at the time they
are travelling. 'Routers' which are boxes of circuit boards and microchips,
which do the essential task of directing and redirecting packets along the
network. Much smaller boxes of circuit boards and microchips called 'modems'
do the task of interpreting between the phone lines and the computer. The
packet .....

Digital Block For A Function Generator
Words: 2356 - Pages: 9.... module. Also a filter selector circuit is built in after the digital block. The user inputs controlling frequency and symmetry are also built into this control block.
Therefore it is clear that the digital block can be divided into 4 distinct blocks, each with its own functionality. These blocks are the control module, counter module, filter control module and 8-bit D/A. The D/A chosen is the DAC0801LCN. Itβs specifications can be found in the appendix. The layout of this design is shown below.
The interconnections will be discussed later but the thickness of the lines indicates the number of bits in the bus lines.

Technology Changes Role Of Database Administrator

analysis and advice for application developers.. The DBA was also responsible
for back-up and recovery, which required many complex utility programs that run
in a specified order. This was a time-consuming energy draining task. (Fosdick
1995)
Databases are currently in the process of integration. Standardizing data,
once done predominately by large corporations, is now filtering down to medium-
size and small companies. The meshing of the old and new database causes
administrators to maintain two or three database products on a single network.
(Wong 1995)

Telecommunications
Words: 3010 - Pages: 11.... program. The devices used can be computers,
terminals (devices that transmit and receive information), and peripheral
equipment such as printers (see Computer; Office Systems). The transmission line
used can be a normal or a specially purchased telephone line called a leased, or
private, line (see Telephone). It can also take the form of a microwave or a
communications-satellite linkage, or some combination of any of these various
systems.
Hardware and Software
Each telecommunications device uses hardware, which connects a device to the
transmission line; and software, which makes it possible for a device to
transmit information throug .....

Fiber Optics
Words: 1222 - Pages: 5.... the light back into data
or voice, so it can be used.
ORIGIN OF FIBER OPTICS
Information (data and voice) is transmitted through the fiber digitally by
the use of high speed LASERs (Light Amplification through the Simulated Emission
of Radiation) or LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Each of these methods create a
highly focused beam of light that is cycled on and off at very high speeds.
Computers at the transmitting end convert data or voice into "bits" of
information. The information is then sent through the fiber by the presence, or
lack, of light. So, all of the data is sent light pulses. Computers on .....

Windows NT Vs Unix As An Operating System
Words: 4751 - Pages: 18.... of MULTICS, initially as a hobby. He used a PDP-7
minicomputer that no was using and wrote the code in assembly. It was initially
a stripped down, single user version of MULTICS but Thompson actually got the
system to work and one of his colleagues jokingly called it UNICS (UNiplexed
Information and Computing Service). The name stuck but the spelling was later
changed to UNIX. Soon Thompson was joined on the project by Dennis Richie and
later by his entire department.
UNIX was moved from the now obsolete PDP-7 to the much more modern PDP-11/20 and
then later to the PDP-11/45 and PDP-11/70. These two latter computers had large
memories as .....
