A Tour Of The Pentium Pro Processor Microarchitecture
Words: 2646 - Pages: 10.... from an already high platform
The Pentium processor set an impressive performance standard with its pipelined,
superscalar microarchitecture. The Pentium processor's pipelined implementation
uses five stages to extract high throughput from the silicon - the Pentium Pro
processor moves to a decoupled, 12-stage, superpipelined implementation, trading
less work per pipestage for more stages. The Pentium Pro processor reduced its
pipestage time by 33 percent, compared with a Pentium processor, which means the
Pentium Pro processor can have a 33% higher clock speed than a Pentium processor
and still be equally easy to produce from a semicond .....

The Computer Underground.
Words: 4290 - Pages: 16.... organizations. This paper also tries to
show the processes and reasons behind the criminalization of the CU and
how the CU is viewed by different organizations, as well as some of the
processes by which it came into being. What the CU is has been addressed
by the media, criminologists, secuity firms, and the CU themselves, they
all have a different understanding or levels of comprehention, this paper
attempts to show the differences between the views as well as attempt to
correct misunderstandings that may have been propagated by misinformed

Questions Of Ethics In Computer Systems And Their Future
Words: 2876 - Pages: 11.... to censor the phone networks without actually eaves dropping on your
phone, they have decided to regulate and censor your written word. The danger in
this is what you write as an opinion may be construed by that government
regulator as a violation of some regulatory act. The flip side to this is if you
did this through another medium such as the phone system nothing would ever come
it. The bigger question here is how much government do people want in there
lives? The Internet was brought into the picture for the public as the next
great technology of this century. It is without a doubt as big if not bigger
than any other publ .....

Quality Issues In System Development
Words: 1631 - Pages: 6.... and with it our understanding and experience as how
best to develop large systems. Today's large systems yield greater benefits for
less cost than those of previous decades. Large systems provide better, more
timely information, the ability to integrate and correlate internal and external
information, the ability to integrate and facilitate streamlined business
processes. Unfortunately, not every system that information workers develop are
well implemented; this means that the computer system which was originally
intended to make a company more efficient, productive and cost-effective, is in
the end doing the exact opposite - namely, wasti .....

same card of a network switch, you pick up the phone and give that branch .....

Knowledge Is Power: How To Buy A Computer
Words: 1563 - Pages: 6.... a few basic guidelines, he could be
assured of making a wise purchase decision.
A computer has only one purpose; to run programs. Some programs require more
computing power than others. In order to figure out how powerful a computer the
consumer needs, therefore, a person must first determine which programs he wants
to run. For many buyers, this creates a problem. They cannot buy a computer
until they know what they want to do with it, but they cannot really know all
of the uses there are for a computer until they own one. This problem is not as
tough as it seems, however. The consumer should go to his local computer store,
and look a .....

Experiencing Cyberspace
Words: 1963 - Pages: 8.... to scenario without having to
travel any ground. I do not feel a sense of distance or location, except when it
takes a prolonged amount of time to connect to a host. When I travel from place
to place (site to site), I do not cover any known physical distances, but
instead I cover visual distance. Just as many people do, I refer to the places
that I visit as virtual worlds. I like calling them this because I never
actually get to see the reality of the "world". I only get to see it
electronically and digitally. The feeling that I experience while in cyberspace
is knowing that I possess the power to visit any where I want. When I click .....

History Of The Internet
Words: 1398 - Pages: 6.... presented the theory behind the first
problem of the Internet, and how to solve it1. The problem was this: when a
large document is sent then pieces of it become lost in transfer and the entire
document has to be resent, but then different pieces are missing from the new
copy of the document. This is a major problem and the obvious solution is to
βchopβ the information up into smaller pieces and then transmit the smaller
pieces2. Then another problem was realized, how does the computer know
where to put these small bits of information? The solution to that was what has
come to be known as packet-switching (PS). In PS, the .....
