His images of "The sun breaking through..." contrast heavily with Conrad's dark and gloomy imagery. Conrad is more biased from the beginning against the African people, seeing them as an extension of the "impenetrable forest" where his character Marlow is, "...cut off for ever from everything you had .....

Evidence is given in both books about justice taking place in this lifetime without the use of any special courts or authorities, but it is better represented in Hamlet. If there is anyone who is in favor of the blacks, they are automatically disliked by the other .....

.... Bradstreet can not just write a straightforward poem to tell how she feels about her stolen thoughts. Unless her reader happens to be a writer, he or she would not be able to sympathize with Bradstreet in this matter. Instead, she had to use a situation in which her readers could comprehend the many emotions she experienced. No doubt, many women read her poetry, and the majority of women during that time were, or would one day be mothers. This similarity opened a door for understanding. By comparing her writing to a child, Bradstreet is able to win the compassion of her readers and help them understand the feelings that she experiences. Bra .....

.... reader with is George and Slim walking off as Curly says “ Now what in the hell is eating them?� thus the book ends on a harsh, cruel note, topped off by the lack of understanding and compassion of an extraordinarily immoral and cruel man. Whatever Steinbeck’s intent for writing such a jarring ending, he leaves the reader with a powerful sense of the world’s immorality. In this book there were several characters, but only a few had significant roles. I would have to say Lennie is the protagonist of the book even though George is an extremely critical character as well. Lennie Small is described .....

.... plank, which supported Farquhar on the other end. First it was held in place by two soldiers though. Farquhar's eyes hadn't been covered, so he could see the water running under the bridge. He was noticing everything about the water, and how slowly it dragged pieces of driftwood downstream. Even the sound of his watch ticking was driving him insane. Soon enough he was thinking of ways to escape, which ran through his mind, but were not acted out. He knew if he could just get his hands untied, and the noose off of his neck he could dive into the water. By diving he would be able to dodge the bullets that the soldiers would shoot at him, .....
