Breast Feeding Infants
Words: 1701 - Pages: 7.... this paper, I will be focusing on the importance of breast-feeding and the issue concerning breast-feeding and bottle-feeding.
The issue of breast vs. bottle is very old and controversial. Many have argued that there's no way to really know the effects of breast-feeding, but studies have proved otherwise.
It has been said that breast-feeding is the ideal method for feeding and nurturing infants, and that it is the best way to achieve optimal infant and child health, growth and development. "Human milk is uniquely superior for infant feeding and is species-specific; all substitute feeding options differ markedly from it." (www.app.org) A m .....

Scoliosis
Words: 322 - Pages: 2.... and it may be
associated with heart failure. Fortunately the majority of scoliosis cases need
only close follow-up to watch for worsening of the curve. Some cases require
more aggressive treatment which could include surgery.
The non-operative treatment of scoliosis involves observing the
deformity with examinations and repeated x-rays. Under certain circumstances,
when spinal growth remains, a brace may be used in combination with follow-up x-
rays. Physical therapy exercises have not been shown to be effective treatment
for scoliosis.
The most common surgical treatment for scoliosis is a spine fusion using

Judith Curren didn't agree. With the assistance of Dr. Kevorkian, she died and
the retired pathologist presided at his 38th assisted suicide, fairly confident
that he will not be prosecuted or even suffer public disapproval.
Many of the people who have sought out Dr. Kevorkian have been terribly ill
and suffering, with no hope of long-term survival. Their stories offered

use this technique for the mental aspect of fundamental skills.
Psychologists recommend that athletes mentally practice their events on the
eve of competition.
When it comes to sports, the winning edge throughout the world of
sports may have less to do with strength and talent, and more to do with,
what sports psychologists call it, mental toughness. Sports psychologists

People Vs. The Tobacco Industry
Words: 1038 - Pages: 4.... start smoking for their individual reasons. Some common reasons why a person may start smoking may be due to stress, peer pressure, or because the person wants to change his social status. The tobacco industry deceives people with their ads implying that cigarettes can relieve stress, help fit in, and even change the social status of men, women, and teens. A camel smoking a cigarette, wearing a leather jacket, with several beautiful ladies surrounding him portrays that smoking is for tough and outgoing ladies’ men. Models are used to illustrate that smoking will make women thinner and more glamorous. Slogans such as “You’ve come a .....

Ackerman (1993), primarily concentrated on the measurement of SpO2 via a pulse oximeter monitor was the focus of the review. Myotonic Dystrophy
Words: 598 - Pages: 3.... the condition may have an earlier age of onset and more serious
clinical features in each succeeding generation - a phenomenon referred to
as anticipation. Anticipation occurs more frequently when the gene is
passed from mother to child rather than from father to child. Anticipation
appears to be explained by the ability of the gene to expand from
generation to generation. Amplification is frequently observed after
parent-to-child transmission, but extreme amplifications are not
transmitted through the male line. This explains anticipation and the
occurrence of the severe congenital form almost exclusively in the
offspring of affected .....

The Human Brain
Words: 2229 - Pages: 9.... All words in bold print will be found in the glossary.
The human body is divided into many different parts called organs. All
of the parts are controlled by an organ called the brain, which is located
in the head. The brain weighs about 2.75 pounds, and has a whitish-pink
appearance. The brain is made up of many cells, and is the control centre
of the body. The brain flashes messages out to all the other parts of the
body. The messages travel in very fine threads called nerves. The nerves
and the brain make up a system somewhat like telephone poles carrying wires
across the city. This is called the nervous sys .....
