The Situation In Kosovo
Words: 1125 - Pages: 5.... how concerned are you really???
I’m certainly not condemning concern for students of Columbine High and the residents of Littleton. The shootings at Columbine High are indeed a tragedy, and should not be ignored by any means.
But what about Kosovo? What about our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers that are being sent over there? Aren’t they just as important as the students at Columbine High? I would certainly say they are!
I think that it is noble, perhaps, to be concerned about a school shooting. It is something that has deeply affected a part of our country. However, this is a situation that will be investiga .....

Great Depression
Words: 1624 - Pages: 6.... distribution of wealth, caused the American economy to capsize. The "roaring twenties" was an era when our country prospered tremendously. The nation's total realized income rose from $74.3 billion in 1923 to $89 billion in 1929. However, the rewards of the "Coolidge Prosperity" of the 1920's were not shared evenly among all Americans. In 1929 the top 0.1% of Americans controlled 34% of all savings, while 80% of Americans had no savings at all. Automotive industry mogul Henry Ford is one example of the unequal distribution of wealth between the rich and the middle-class. Henry Ford reported a personal income of $14 million in the same .....

He did this as soon as a group of the state’s citizen totaling 10 percent of the voters in the 1860 presidential election had signed oaths of loyalty to the Union. Under this plan new governments were formed in Louisiana, Tennessee and Arkansas, but the Congress refused to recognize them. Republicans in Congress did not want a quick restoration, because it would bring Democratic representatives and senators to Washington. In 1864 Congress passed the Wade-Davis Bill. This bill would hav .....

With large populations came major events. The first major event for Cleveland is one that now is a regular occurrence. A year after it was founded, the first wedding was held .....

Orwell, however, for reasons such as the omitted portion of his preface and misreadings of his novels, has been mislabeled a traitor of Socialism or a hero to the right wing by theorists and critics. His book, besides a parody of Stalinist Russia, intends to show that Russia was not a true democratic Socialist country. Looked at carefully, Animal Farm is a criticism of Karl Marx as well as a novel perpetuating his convictions of democratic Socialism; these are other inherent less discussed qualities in Animal Farm besides the more commonly read harsh criticism of totalitarianism. differed in their views .....

Aristotle On Art
Words: 380 - Pages: 2.... important of these formal requirements is unity. Taking tragedy as an example, the representation of the action of the play is the plot, and the plot is the ordered arrangement of the incidents. A well-constructed play must have a beginning, middle and an end. The plot must neither begin nor end in a haphazard way. The plot of the play must represent the action of the play as a unified whole. 'Incidents must be so arranged that if any of them is differently placed or taken away the effect of wholeness will be seriously disrupted.' (Poetics, ch 8).
