Ancient Japanese Art
Words: 2150 - Pages: 8.... I sat down by this rather sloppy scroll of a landscape and found it much more real than anything else there. I selected Along the Wu River. It was done by a man named Shen Zhou who was born in China in 1947 and died in 1509. I liked some of the pieces that were showcased on the floor, but this is the one that I found to be a little mysterious.
When I first saw this piece of work I questioned its value and just why it was in the museum because two feet away on either side of it were beautiful inkings and paintings. I looked back in the middle and found this piece of art to be more of a piece of crap. So I looked harder.
The work .....

Macbeth 2
Words: 746 - Pages: 3.... "Which smok'd with bloody execution," he is referring to Macbeth's stalwartness in which his sword is covered in the blood of the enemy.
After these few references to honor, the symbol of blood now changes to show a theme of deception and treason. Lady Macbeth starts this off when she asks the spirits to "make thick my blood." What she is saying by this, is that she wants to make herself insensitive and remorseless for the deeds which she is about to commit. Lady Macbeth knows that the evidence of blood is a treacherous symbol, and knows it will deflect the guilt from her and Macbeth to the servants when she says, "smear the sleepy gro .....

The city was a booming center of trade, its wharves crowded with boats carrying all manner of goods and commodities. It boasted a municipal orchestra, a Shakespeare repertory company, and an imposing courthouse in the Greek revival style. To its proud citizens, Vicksburg was the "Queen City of the Bluff" and a center, as one of them wrote, of "culture, education and luxury."
All this was to change with coming of the war. By early 1862 the peaceful town had become one of the most strategically important spots in the entire Co .....

Russia In 1910
Words: 811 - Pages: 3.... men of
inherited positions did not represent the people. All of Europe had
experienced the industrial revolution, Russia had precious little machinery.
To obtain more advanced machines, the government traded grains to other
countries in exchange for machinery, though it meant more people would now
starve. Compound this with the devastation and desperation brought on
shortly thereafter by the first world war, and there was no confidence left
in the government. Liberal constitutionalists wanted to remove the Czar
and form a republic; social revolutionists tried to promote a peasant
revolution. Marxist promoted a revolution among the pro .....
