Sufism
Words: 1339 - Pages: 5.... is connected with many other religions also, the Sufis had to be extremely careful to be under “guidance” at all times. They prefer the word guidance to the word teaching because they believe that the sought-after relationship with God can be reached only through personal experience.
The original Sufis, though they seem far from the orthodox views, maintained a very close tie with original Islamic doctrine. Their differences were considerable, but the link with orthodoxy was “guaranteed by their acceptance of the law and ritual practices of Islam.”
The Sufis believe that a person’s soul abides with G .....

Suicide And The Agony Of Seper
Words: 1680 - Pages: 7.... allow that we are they. A surprisingly large group of our population has
either contemplated or actually attempted suicide at some time or other. For
many of those seemingly happy people we meet on the street or in our jobs, the thought of suicide
has been a more or less silent alternative in the midst of life's reversals. It is not an impulse that people
commonly publicize regarding themselves, hence one naturally imagines that few others experience it.
Sympathetic friends typically regard a suicidal person as being an unfortunate victim--of blind chance,
of other people's thought .....

Challenging The Traditional Cl
Words: 558 - Pages: 3.... For example, while in high school, my English class was reading several plays by Shakespeare. With all the difficult words and hard to follow story lines, it would have been extremely helpful to have been able to go through the plays willingly, and with enthusiasm. Instead, I read it because I had to, for fear of getting a bad grade. On the contrary, Rodriguez actually enjoyed schoolwork. He tells us, “…. any book they (teachers) told me to read, I read –then waited for them to tell me which books I enjoyed. Their every casual opinion I came to adopt and to trumpet when I returned home…”. He approached academics with an e .....

Dining Establishments And Eating
Words: 885 - Pages: 4.... Fried Chicken. Fast food would be
an easy solution to the problem of the time factor. Fast food can easily be
recognized when you enter the parking lot. For fast food the parking lot is
more accessible to people(less landscaping), more entrances and exit doors(for
more saved time). Once entering the building one can distinguish a fast food
restaurant, by the high traffic tile floors, plastic bench seating that does
not move for comfort, and the poor taste of interior design with small amounts
of decoration. These buildings were meant for eating quickly, and then leaving,
visual impact is not a major concern. There will be no waiter .....

Taoism 3
Words: 3170 - Pages: 12.... to say though that some of the material, especially Chuang Tzu really changed my outlook on many things. My parents could say that this philosophy has made me lazy, believing that I can go through life, living peacefully and harmoniously, in nature, with out a care in the world. I don't really believe this, but some of Chuang Tzu's arguments have either made me strongly agree with what he was teaching, or go into the opposing view and really make me want to seek out more to life, than just my surroundings.
As a philosopher, Chuang Tzu has been under attack from the beginning. It has been said that "scholars at the time could neither f .....

Jesus Of Montreal

Revoking Jesus' origin in one of the central ideas that the actors in the movie established. René announces to the audience that "the messiah was born from a Roman soldier". Contrary to what the church states, Jesus being born from God's soul, the movie emphasizes that he was more a human than a God. The same type oof contreversy is established when the actors narrate the beginning of Jesus' life. They expose the fact that Mary is an unwed mother. This is a factor tha .....

Confused In America
Words: 1667 - Pages: 7.... things these days: Just fight and fumble in America to get whatever I can,
with my great motherland backing me up. The worst of it is to go back to go
on being a professor and moonli ghter and in any case, I will still be
among the para-middle-class. As to the money I spend here, well, just treat
it as the money I lose in Las Vegas.
But still I am no big gambler. When I talk about going abroad before I went
abroad, we talked it in such a way that it seemed we would rather do
anything to stay abroad. Even the jails in America are better than the
shabby house of my home in a big yar d in Beijing. If I was a big gamble .....

Causing Generation X
Words: 688 - Pages: 3.... Addictions form and on and on. Pretty soon the kids acting up in class, (more attention, the perfect kind, peer,) getting smashed on the weekends and waking up in someone else’s puke.
Another big reason is boredom. This where my syndrome stems from. There is honestly NOTHING to do in Tuscarwaras County. If you have money in the winter you can bowl, watch a High School basketball game, go to the YMCA, see a movie, go shopping, drive around, experiment with make-up and different types of clothes, get on the Internet, and watch TV.
With no money in the winter, we can watch TV, get on the Internet, vandalize, steal , try to bum cigare .....
