The Missing Dialogue In Antigone
Words: 1024 - Pages: 4.... and Haimon speaking alone
together adds to this political atmosphere and does not inject the play with a
question of romantic love and/or loyalty. Family bonds and loyalty are the
crucial issues instead.
The central question of this play is a political one. What should have
more power within a society, the divine laws of the gods or the laws of the land
and the mortal rulers? Antigone is a representation of the divine laws of the
gods, and she remains steadfast to her beliefs that the wishes of the gods
should overpower the wishes of the king. Creon, on the other hand, is the

Gulliver’s Travels: The Movie
Words: 371 - Pages: 2.... is in comparison.
The movie, although a newer version, is very useful in discovering the meaning of the book if the reader encountered difficulty in reading it. I found the movie to be interesting and at the same time follow the book almost completely. In the small portions of it our class watched I could not even think of any differences between the text and the film. I also found the film to be one of good quality. The sound, special effects and actors were all good, unlike most of the films that we have watched in this class before. I would recommend that someone should defiantly watch this film after reading this book to grasp a .....

First, as I am his kinsman and his subject,
Strong both against the deed; then, as his host,
Who should against his murderer shut the door,
Not bear the knife myself.

Words: 1566 - Pages: 6.... must first determine the different types of roles played in a conflict. There are 5 main roles; there is cause, an instigator, retaliator, passivist, and moderator.
The first is the cause, which can be a person or thing, that starts everything, and sometimes people don’t even realize that they are playing this part. In Romeo and Juliet, one of the causes is the ancient feud between the families. Tybalt says “What, drawn and talk of peace? I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues and thee.” (1.1.61-62)

Words: 1138 - Pages: 5.... ensure moral order and justice within Salem and "to prevent any disunity
that might open it to destruction by material or ideological
enemies"(Miller 7). While espousing purity and godliness, the Puritans of
Salem were a political group with leanings toward power and weakness. They
were unable to keep these two characteristics in check at the time of the

Compare And Contrast: Oedipus And Othello
Words: 1018 - Pages: 4.... the stage itself would be bare apart
from a few scenic elements and props. Othello, like most of Shakespeare's
plays, had what is called an abstract setting. That is a setting in which
the locale may change rapidly, it may not be indicated by the script that
it has changed, and was most likely suggested by a few props. Abstract
settings place more emphasis on the language and the performer, which
causes the spectator to use their imagination. It also places more
emphasis on costuming. This type of setting helped set up the style of
representational theater, which places high emphasis on the realistic. The
style used in classical G .....
