Creative Writing Of Hamlet
Words: 539 - Pages: 2.... old at the time. Dad was going to
fight in Norway. We had a talk before he left. We sat down in the
courtyard. It was a beautiful day and dad's presence was like another sun.
He seemed to glow as he spoke to me. He said, "Hammy, I will be away for a
while. I want you to watch mommy, and guard our fortress from invaders.
Take this. It will help you be strong." He gave me a small gold dagger.
He left that afternoon and I knew he wouldn't be back for a long time.
Things carried on as usual. I ran around the castle playing and
shirking any responsibility that I had. One day I was playing hide-and-go-
seek with Laertes and the other .....

Hamlet: Ophelia And Gertrude
Words: 2030 - Pages: 8.... characters as well.
Gertrude is a kind and loving mother. The kind that guards after her son
through thick and through thin and loves unconditionally. Hamlet had suspected
her of aiding in the killing of King Hamlet. That will be discussed later.
Her character is the one character in the play that I believe does not
develop but rather stays identical to the scene in which she is introduced(Act I,
scene II). She is shown to be a quiet, "stand by your man" type individual who
is easily influenced.
This is my belief because in the second scene of the play, Hamlet is
shown to be crushed by his mother's hasty remarriage. If marriage within the .....

Fate In Romeo And Juliet
Words: 988 - Pages: 4.... death, and has lead him to kill Tybalt in revenge.
In Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is seen to be upset at
Mercutio's death and predicts that the “days black fate on more days doth
depend.” (III, I, 118) Tybalt then re-enters and Romeo becomes more upset that
Tybalt is triumphant with Mercutio being dead (III, I, 121). As Romeo becomes
overwhelmed with Mercutio's death and Tybalt's joy over it, he suddenly
declares that either he or Tybalt must die with Mercutio (III, I, 128). Tybalt
responds predictably and threatens Romeo (III, I, 129). Romeo takes the threat,
then fights Tybalt until Tybalt is finally killed. Whe .....

Macbeth: Decisions That Determined Fate
Words: 929 - Pages: 4.... (Act I scene 3 line 133). The truth in this prophecy leads MacBeth to ill thoughts as to what is in store for him and how he can achieve becoming king. King Duncan names his son, Malcolm, heir to the Scottish throne. This action reduces the chance for MacBeth to become king. Macbeth decides, "The Prince of Cumberland! That is a step on which I fall down, or else o'er leap..." (Act I scene 4 line 55). This delineates MacBeth's character and begins to show his ill feelings as to how he will act on these prophecies. King Duncan is invited to MacBeth's castle at Inverness where MacBeth will decide what actions to take to become King .....

Representation And The Media
Words: 319 - Pages: 2.... other ways of communicating (body movements, facial expressions, and emotions, etc.).
I also agree with what was said about classifying certain things and those things leading to stereotyping. If I see a man on television that wears funny clothes, wears thick glasses, and is very unpopular, I classify this person as a "nerd". This is not a good thing to have a habit of.
You can not agree, disagree, talk about, or respond to a situation, unless you were there. You absolutely have no idea of what went on or how much of the story is true. The media lets you know what they want you to know. Also, there can never be ONE interpretation or es .....

Television And The Internet
Words: 2331 - Pages: 9.... our favorite television shows as
well as providing an arena for discussion about the programs. I will present to
you what is available out there and hypothesize how this can enhance or alter
one's experience with television. Included in this paper will be actual
responses from individuals around the world who responded to a survey I posted
on various internet newsgroups devoted to specific television shows. The most
relevant responses are attached as an appendix at the end of this paper.
I will first briefly define the terms that I will use to avoid any
ambiguities. When I refer to the internet, I refer to the vast encyclopedia of
informati .....

The Crucible: Reverend John Hale - A Dynamic Character
Words: 439 - Pages: 2.... Hales views on witchery.
Another example of Hale's character and his savings of witches is when he
said, “Now Tituba, I know that when we bind ourselves to Hell it is very
hard to break with it. We are going to help you tear yourself free-”
The point when Reverend Hale begins to change is in Act III during
the trial of John Proctor. “I am a minister of the lord, and I dare not
take a life without there be a proof so immaculate no slightest qualm of
conscience may doubt it.” He starts to doubt if the very thing that he
searches to rid the people of might be a lie.
Let you not mistake your duty as I mistook my own...where .....

The Supernatural In Macbeth
Words: 801 - Pages: 3.... his soul.
After the prophecies of the witches' revealed the fate of Macbeth, the plan
in which to gain power of the throne is brought up. The only way to gain
power of the throne was for Macbeth to work his way to the throne, or to
murder King Duncan. Murdering the king was an easier plan since the
motivation in his dreams urged him on. Lady Macbeth also relied on the
supernatural by her soliloquy of calling upon the evil spirits to give her
the power to plot the murder of Duncan without any remorse or
conscience(Act I, Scene V, ll.42-57). The three sisters are capable of
leading people into danger resulting in death, such as the sailor who .....

Shakespeare Uses The Devil, Adam And Eve To Help Define Humanity In Othello
Words: 861 - Pages: 4.... characters and the side of them they would otherwise attempt to hide. Othello refers to the devil as Desdemona, while Cassio sees the devil in drink. Othello enters into a realm in which he is unfamiliar with Desdemona. It is easy for him to trust his officers and military companions, however, he is not as competent in his relationship with Desdemona. Once the suspicions suggested by Iago are brought to his attention, it takes little convincing before he is willing to seek revenge against both Desdemona and Cassio. The contrast in his quickness to judge his own wife versus the trust he has in Iago reveals the lack of competence in roma .....

Time And Fate In Romeo And Juliet
Words: 911 - Pages: 4.... asks for Romeo's presence at the ball. Romeo should have
considered the servant's warning; if Romeo occupies the name of Montague, he
shall not be permitted. Once at the ball, Romeo is searching for a maiden to
substitute the unrequited love of Rosaline. Romeo happens to gaze upon Juliet,
who charms Romeo. Romeo proclaims, " Did my heart love till now? Forswear it,
sight!/ For ne'er saw true beauty till this night." (I, v, l 52-53) Since
Romeo declares his love for Juliet, she feels the attraction also. They
believe that they are in love and must marry. However, it is a genuine
coincidence that Romeo and Juliet were at the same place, at .....
