Captain Jaggery has made his last wish.
His death wish...
This relates to what happened after the Rebellion, all reactions that became one. Everyone wants revenge!
Rebellion
The captain worked them day and night
for he had no mercy,
because of this they had a fight
though hungry and very thirsty.
In that fight two men had died
or at least it was thought to be
when they found out one was alive
they went on happily.
They tricked the captain and two of the crew
into thinking that Zachariah was dead,
but all that was thrown overboard
was some cloth in a hammock bed.
Because the captain thought he was dead

Essay Interpreting "One Art" By Elizabeth Bishop
Words: 364 - Pages: 2.... things is
not hard and she should not worry. Also, the speaker uses hyperboles when
describing in the fifth tercet that she lost "two cities...some realms I owned."
Since she could not own, much less lose a realm, the speaker seems to be
comparing the realm to a large loss in her life. Finally, the statement in the
final quatrain "Even losing you" begins the irony in that stanza. The speaker
remarks that losing this person is not "too hard" to master. The shift in
attitude by adding the word "too" shows that the speaker has an ironic tone for
herself in her loss or perhaps her husband or someone else close to her.

Poetry Analysis Of "No Loser, No Weeper"
Words: 752 - Pages: 3.... period in Maya's life constitutes much of the pain that is included in many other poems.
In the poem, "No Loser, No Weeper," Maya describes how she just hates to lose something, whether is small like a watch or a toy. Moreover this poem is directed towards another female trying to steal her lover. Maya wants to make it clear to the woman not touch her "lover-boy." She explains her warning by stating that she hates to lose something "even a dime, I wish I was dead." We gather from that statement that losing something so small and worthless as a dime would make Maya wish she was dead is very serious and very threatening. This remark can b .....

"Babi Yar" By Yevgeny Yevtushenko: An Analysis
Words: 985 - Pages: 4.... that such a thing could occur at
the hands of other humans. The poet feels the persecution and pain and fear
of the Jews who stood there in this place of horror. Yevtushenko makes
himself an Israelite slave of Egypt and a martyr who died for the sake of
his religion. In lines 7-8, he claims that he still bars the marks of the
persecution of the past. There is still terrible persecution of the Jews in
present times because of their religion. These lines serve as the
transition from the Biblical and ancient examples he gives to the allusions
of more recent acts of hatred. The lines also allude to the fact that these
Russian Jews who were murde .....

Analysis Of Jarrell's "The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner"
Words: 319 - Pages: 2.... thrown into war. The soldier
describes the fear of awakening from the naive state of childhood into the
preeminent likelihood of his death during the "State" of war (line 1). He
describes the disconnection he feels from Earth and what he calls it "dream
of life" as if life only existed in birth and death (line 3). When he
awakens to "black flak" and "nighmare fighters" he seems to imply that all
that lies between birth and death is war (line 4).
The theme to this poem emerges in the last line with almost a plea
that he not be forgotten. When he says "they washed me out of the turret
with a hose" he implies that there is nothing lef .....

Exploring The Theme Of Premature Death In Three Poems
Words: 1605 - Pages: 6.... conversely, is a title that leads the reader to believe that the poem most likely is about a normal carefree vacation and break from school. The author of this poem used this title ironically. He anticipated the reader’s expectations, and took the poem in a different direction. The character in the story is certainly not having a “normal” spring break at all, as he is spending it grief-stricken over the death of his four-year old brother. If one examines this title on an interpretive level, the word “break” takes on a new meaning, as it could refer to the death of the child as breaking the heart or spirit of the family and the .....

Analysis Of Stephen Crane's "War Is Kind"
Words: 1323 - Pages: 5.... to envision and replicate the essence of actual combat. Stephen who had not witnessed any warfare brilliantly accomplishes this in his book.
Crane thereafter, got a real taste of combat, when he covered the Greco-Turkish War in 1897 and the Spanish-American War in 1898 as a war correspondent for The New York Journal newspaper. It was during these two conflicts that he perhaps drew the conclusion that war was not a glorious thing and only the purveyor of the slaughter of young men.
His graphic description of a soldier shot from his mount in the first stanza shows his contempt for the acts of war.
Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind

Creating The Melancholic Tone In “The Raven”
Words: 1136 - Pages: 5.... the reader becomes aware of Poe’s prominent tone of melancholy.
A strong device for the melancholic tone in "The Raven" is Poe’s use of the first person. Poe used the first person by virtue of the situations in "The Raven" taking direct influence from Poe's life experiences. Among many other misfortunes, including living a life of poverty and being orphaned at a young age, Poe’s beloved wife Virginnia, died after a long illness. The narrator’s sorrow for the lost Lenore is paralleled with Poe’s own grief regarding the death of his wife. Confined in the chamber are memories of her who had frequented it. These ghostly r .....

Poe's Literary Vengence
Words: 1277 - Pages: 5.... (149). This line reflects Poe's despise of his estranging stepfather John Allan. This estrangement forced Poe to make decisions about his life that he would not have had to consider at such and early age.
Fortunato was a wealthy man who was admired in his community. I feel that is how Poe relates Forutnato to his step- father. Martha Womack quotes from Kenneth Silverman's book Edgar A. Poe: A Never-Ending Remembrance. "Allan much resembled Fortunato being a rich man, respected, admired, beloved, interested in the wines, and a member of the Masons." Womack goes on to quote from Silverman's book "Even the Allan name can be seen .....

Poem: I Guess It Was Not In Jane's Mind
Words: 204 - Pages: 1.... my ring,
She said “Oh, you sweet thing!”
All that for just one crummy line!!
I guess it was not in Jane's mind,
That her figure was so well defined.
So she went to health clubs,
For health food and back rubs,
Now look; if you do, you'll go blind!!
I guess it was not in Jane's mind,
That her teeth were poorly aligned.
The boys did not go near,
For, her chops they did fear,
Till she had her mouth re-designed.
I guess it was not in Jane's mind,
That a job she needed to find.
When they cut her welfare,
She just d .....
