Changing Undesirable Behaviors
Words: 615 - Pages: 3.... was immediately picked up and placed back inside the house. Day's five through eight were designed to truly concentrate on implementing the developed program with the same number of opportunities to escape as the previous four days.
RESULTS
It was determined that the subject would almost always attempt to escape from the house when it was given the opportunity during the first four days. As the days progressed, it's total number of escapes decreased. This could be attributed to the fact that every time it found it's way outside, it was immediately picked up and returned to it's proper location. This is a perfect example of using t .....

Global Warming 4
Words: 773 - Pages: 3.... human activities. These environmental changes pose a real threat to the lives of people and wild life.It is vital to all of us that we fully understand the complex relationship between the atmosphere and the earth. The earth is getting warmer. the changes are small, so far, but they are expected to grow and speed up. Within the next 50 to 100 years, the earth will continue to heat up hotter than it has been in the past
million years. As oceans warm and glaciers melt, land and cities along coasts may be flooded. Heat and drought may cause forests to die and food crops to fail. Global warming will effect weather everywhere, plants and animal .....

Ocean Pollution
Words: 451 - Pages: 2.... also pose a threat to our oceans by over fishing our waters. The way they are going there will not be enough fish for a maximum sustainable yield, and our fish population will die. Fishermen also clean there fish and throw the guts overboard into the ocean.
Industrial, agricultural, household cleaning, gardening, and automotive products are also polluting our ocean. You wouldn't believe it but all of those products I just named regularly end up in water. About 65,000 chemicals are used commercially in the U.S. Today, with about 1,000 new ones added each year. Only about 300 have been extensively tested for toxicity. I think .....

Dsl Should Be The Standard For Telephone Lines
Words: 321 - Pages: 2.... available is 56 kb/s (kilobits per second). With DSL, the normal speed is 384 kb/s with the max at 1.1 Mb/s (megabits per second).
With DSL, one's computer could be online at all times. There would be no busy signals or dial-in hassles. If someone wanted to look something up on the internet real quick or check their mail, all they would have to do is start their internet browser or email client and they would be set.
DSL wouldn't only make our internet experience more enjoyable, but it would also improve the quality and reliability of normal phones. The digital format would be able to reproduce sound quality with great fidelity .....

Prescribed Burning

"Honey, your fire has escaped.!"
"There's no guarantee you'll not get a big rip," (see terminology sidebar, page 57) says a Forest Service fire officer on the eastern seaboard.
"When you're messing with fire, there's always a chance one will escape," echoes his counterpart in California's Sierras.
"The fuels are tricky..." adds Ron Meyers, who directs prescribed fires for The Nature Conservancy from his base in Florida. .....

Atoms
Words: 520 - Pages: 2.... theories are the
basis for our understanding of atoms and chemistry.
One mistake of Dalton was his belief that atoms were round and hard.
This became the primary ambition for scientists after Dalton, to find out
the structure of an atom. In 1897, Joseph John Thomson discovered electrons.
Using a tube, magnets and charged plates, he sent ray particles through
various experiments changing the position of the charged plates. By
changing the plates, he discovered he could also change the point at which
the particles would hit a florescent screen at the end of the tube. He
decided that the ray was made up of particles with a negative charg .....

Hard Drive Evolution
Words: 988 - Pages: 4.... revolution in the early 1980s changed all that, ushering in the introduction of the first small hard disk drives. The first 5.25-inch hard disk drives packed 5 to 10 MB of storage, the equivalent of 2,500 to 5,000 pages of double-spaced typed information, into a device the size of a small shoebox. At the time, a storage capacity of 10 MB was considered too large for a so-called "personal" computer.
The first PCs used removable floppy disks as storage devices almost exclusively. The term "floppy" accurately fit the earliest 8-inch PC diskettes and the 5.25-inch diskettes that succeeded them. The inner disk that holds the data usually is made .....

Florida has some connection with these mysterious deaths. A red tide is a
bloom of flagellates which are deadly to marine life, but cause no harm to the
human population. Another possible cause is a virus that is unknown to
scientists. Many people believe that this problem will eventually stop an the
manatee population will flourish, but others are rather pessimistic.
Ecological Problem: The manatee population is quickly dying off and
unless they make an astonishing comeback, they will soon be extinct.
Ecological Solution: A possible solutio .....

Psychology

Psychologists help people with emotional problems to understand the basis of their difficulties. This understanding often brings a solution to the problems.
A psychologist's specialty and place of employment determines their working conditions. Clinical, school, and counseling psychologists in private practice have pleasant, comfortable offices and set their own hours. However, they often must offer evening hours to accommodate their clients. Those employed in hospitals, nursing homes, and other health facilities may work evenings and weekends, while those who work in schools and clinics generally work regular hours. Psycho .....

Marijuana 2
Words: 863 - Pages: 4.... between these three types. The term 'hemp' is generally used to describe low-thc varieties of cannabis, which are grown for industrial uses.
The strength of cannabis varies greatly from one variety to another. Some, known as 'one-hit-shit', requires only a single lung-full to reach full effects while other varieties require many hits to achieve the same effects. Additionally, the amount that one individual likes to smoke can be many times what another prefers. Generally, 1/8 ounce (3.5 g) of mid-quality bud could get around 20-30 people reasonably high.
Cannabis is sold on the street for anywhere between $25 - $150 per 1/4 ou .....
