Renewables, The Energy Source For America’s Future
Words: 1078 - Pages: 4.... energy, mainly wind and solar energy, and reduction of dependence on oil is the best way to solve our current energy dilemma.
For the past fifty years, fossil fuels have been the main source of energy in the U.S. They are a great source of power, but unfortunately they also have many setbacks. The finite reserves of fossil fuels are being depleted at a rate one hundred thousand times faster than they are being formed. As supplies decrease we become more and more dependent on the Middle Eastern countries for our supplies of oil, recently, fifty-two percent of imported oil came from such countries. The most significant drawback is t .....

Ozone
Words: 841 - Pages: 4.... causes serious health effects and forest and crop damage in the lower
atmosphere. Ozone is formed through the chemical reaction of volatile organic
compounds and nitrogen dioxide, in the atmosphere, in the presence of sunlight.
This reaction is called a photochemical reaction, because sunlight is required.
The product is known as smog. The notorious brownish color of smog is due to
nitrogen dioxide of the mixture. Increased temperature stimulate the reaction,
which is why ozone conditions are worse in the summer. It is an oxidant,
meaning it takes electrons away from other molecules, and disrupts key
structures in cells by start .....

Can Intelligence Be Measured
Words: 1021 - Pages: 4.... probably have different funding, environment, children, plus many other factors that are not the same in every school. The actual environment that they are taking the test in could be different and affect different individuals in different ways. A person could not be feeling good on the certain day of the test and this certainly affects the outcome of the test. Well if you do badly on it you will just be thought of as stupid and it is not really you're own fault. Normal standardized test get predictable results around the academic standpoint of intelligence, but should not be held to tell weather the person is intelligent or not. .....

Victor Frankenstein And His Use Of Science
Words: 911 - Pages: 4.... explain the origin
of life is the big bang theory that states that life was created from a
cosmic explosion. Yet another theory on the origination of life is the
existence of God and that God created the earth and all of the life on
earth.
Victor Frankenstein is exactly like the scientists of today.
Victor Frankenstein is trying to make a human being from other, deceased
human beings, this could be compared to cloning today, making one creature
from another. The possibility, or theory of genetic engineering can
guarantee that humans would be without deformity, affliction or frailty.
Victor Frankenstein may not have chosen parts for his .....

Cyclones
Words: 547 - Pages: 2.... This "eye" unlike the rest of the Cyclone is completely calm and is not windy at all.
Cyclone Tracy was the most destructive cyclone recorded to hit Australia since white settlement in 1788 (the Bathurst Bay killed 300 people but didn't reach land). Cyclone Tracy hit the coastal city of Darwin on Christmas Day 1974. Although people had warning on New Year's Day about Cyclone Tracy, they were busy preparing for Christmas and thought that the cyclone would pass away just like Cyclone Selma had done three weeks before. Cyclone Tracy came roaring down the Arafura Sea (where most the develop in that area) and was on track to bypass Darw .....

Mistakes People Make With Ster
Words: 1177 - Pages: 5.... time. Steroids allow its users to recover more quickly from exercise than a natural athlete, so they can return to the gym sooner for another workout. So that means less work equals more muscle gain, compared to working out normally with no supplement. Who wouldn’t want that? Think about all the pain you wouldn’t have to go through doing all those reps. With a performance enhancing drug, you could do even less, get the same results and even better.
Today more than ever, performance enhancing drugs and supplements are being abused. It is estimated that 99% of all professional bodybuilders are using steroids, or some type of perform .....

The Hippopotamus: Endangered Species Report
Words: 641 - Pages: 3.... to a count done in 1994, this number has now dropped
to 11,000. The 1989 ban on elephant ivory is the main cause attributed to the
exponential rise to hippo ivory trade.
"European and African activists are petitioning advocacy groups, including last
week's annual Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species in Florida,
for a ban on hippo poaching. But they say they're a long way from putting an
end to the slaughter." (Howard & Koehl)
The hippopotamus is an enormous amphibious animal with smooth, hairless skin.
Hippos can be found in Liberia, the Ivory Coast, and a few can also be found in
Sierra Leone and Guinea. Hipp .....

Acid Rain Legislation
Words: 824 - Pages: 3.... combustion.
Power plants and other fossil fuel burning industrial areas release various
forms of nitrous oxides (Nox). These two chemical compounds combine with the
water in the atmosphere to form what is known as acid rain.
The main reason that has prompted legislation of industrial emissions
from governments is because of the negative effects they can have on the
environment. Acid rain is harmful to the environment because of it's low pH.
It can harm the biotic components of earth, and also the abiotic components.
It's high acidity degrades soil to the point where it cannot support any type of
plant life. Trees in forests are killed .....

Endangered Species
Words: 1552 - Pages: 6.... in a low number. About 1000 species in the world are named endangered, or are in threat to be extinct. I never knew that some kinds of birds were in danger. We can help these animals and plants by making laws that you are not allowed to hunt or kill any animal that is in danger of extinction.
Government Involvement
Only since the 19th century has there been worldwide concern about the case of species in their natural environments. Finally in 1916 they made a law called Migratory Bird Treaty. They had this law in United States, Great Britain, Canada, and later in Mexico. This law was made so that people can not kill animals that are .....

Pollution From Livestock And Manure
Words: 514 - Pages: 2.... should not spreed when it is going to rain so the manure won't runoff
the field. There are two ways of handling manure. The first is to spread it every or every other
day. That is the worst because when you put it on snow and the snow melts it runs into a river or
goes down to the ground water and pollutes it.
The best way of handling of manure is to build a
six month pit or harvester. That means that you can hold your livestock manure and all the runoff
that is run into it for six months or more. To build a pit you must have a overview map that
shows;
"1. Farm buildings, yards surrounding area, homes, other
buildings, .....
