Are UFOs Real?
Words: 3163 - Pages: 12.... artificial satellites, and weather balloons are often the explanations behind UFOs (Doherty 17). The theory, however, that UFOs come from outer space is called the extraterrestrial hypothesis. The only problem with this theory is the distance involved in interstellar travel. Another hypothesis on the nature of UFOs is the demonic force hypothesis. It states that the UFOs represent demons coming to earth for the final battle between good and evil (Randle 112). The not so widely accepted theory is that of hallucination/dream. Its major debunker is that mass hallucinations would have to be fairly common. The final hypothesis on UFO sightings is .....

Cancer 4
Words: 1512 - Pages: 6.... spreading the cancer.
Neoplasms are generally classified into two groups: malignant and benign. Malignant tumors, or abnormal tissue, grow more rapidly than benign tissue and they invade normal tissue. Benign tissue is structured similar to normal tissue while malignant tissue is abnormal and has an unstructured appearance. Of greater importance, benign tissue does not metastasize, or begin to grow in other sites, like malignant tumors do. Cancer always refers to metastasized tumors but the term tumor is not always necessarily cancer. A tumor is any living tissue that is #1 distinguishable as abnormal living tissue.

Origanum Vulgare
Words: 302 - Pages: 2.... the herb medically. Oregano’s German name, wurstkraut, reveals its use of seasoning sausages. The English used oregano for perfumes, washing waters, and used it for dyes to turn wool purple and linen reddish brown.
In good health and quality, oregano should have good color, even sized leaf pieces and a fresh aromatic aroma. The leaves of oregano are very aromatic, slightly pointed and hairy. The flowers are white, and bloom from late July to September. Oregano grows to be 2 feet tall, and rich, moist soil makes the aroma and flavor of oregano weak.
Oregano has been used for many other things in the past, and has been very helpful and const .....

New Technologies In Television
Words: 1794 - Pages: 7.... DVD is a critical element of PC/TV convergence, since it's a way to distribute movies with extended features such as user-selectable camera angles and multiple language support. Also, like CD's, there are writeable and rewriteable variations coming.
DVD is just starting to make a significant impact on the market. Estimates vary from about 600,000 to 1,000,000 console players ("living room" boxes used strictly to play movies) sold in the United States through the end of 1998. So far, the number of DVD drives in PCs is far smaller.
DVD technology can handle one or two layers of data per disc side. That makes for four sub varieti .....

The Big Bang
Words: 1136 - Pages: 5.... and the galaxies have continued moving away from each other
ever since. Today the universe is still expanding, as astronomers have observed.
The Steady State model says that the universe does not evolve or change in
time. There was no beginning in the past, nor will there be change in the
future. This model assumes the perfect cosmological principle. This principle
says that the universe is the same everywhere on the large scale, at all times.
It maintains the same average density of matter forever.
There are observational evidences found that can prove the Big Bang model is
more reasonable than the Steady State model. First, th .....

Genetics Engineering
Words: 655 - Pages: 3.... That is only 10 years from now. What does
that mean to the average Joe?
Well, today we already live with genetically engineered items. The FDA
has approved bioengineered tomatoes that ripen without rotting(Dewitt, 1994).
Entire herds of cattle are now being injected with a growth hormone(BST) so that
they will produce more milk than ordinary cattle(Dewitt, 1994). Also drought
resistance grass that needs no moving.
Scientists will soon be able to collect DNA from endangered species.
This DNA could be used to clone more condors, bald eagle, mountain gorillas, and
many other animals. Totally extinct animals may be recreated as well, i .....

Breast Cancer 2
Words: 532 - Pages: 2.... the brain. For instance, gonadotropin-independent precocity, this is when the Childs ovaries or testes still make steroids even without the release of GnRH.
Since these children are still producing steroids without GnRH being released, low doses of Provera are not effective. For the body to produce steroid hormones it must convert cholesterol into estrogens and other related substances. In order for this process to take place, several steps are involved which are controlled by a certain enzyme. In knowing this, Lee wanted to find out if blocking the action of an enzyme would be reached with high doses of Provera.
What Lee and Auchu .....

History Of The F-16
Words: 1077 - Pages: 4.... fighter (LWF) program. The first F-16 was developed as a YF-16 prototype back in 1972. It made it’s first official flight on February 2, 1974. A level speed of Mach 2 at 40,000 ft was attained on March 11, 1974.
The production F-16A differed from the YF-16 in having a 13-inch fuselage extension to hold more fuel and the Westinghouse APG-66 radar. The wing area was increased by 20 square feet and an additional underwing hardpoint was fitted.
The first YF-16 was brought out on December 13, 1973 to make its first test flight at Fort Worth and was air freighted by C-5A to Edwards AFB on January 8, 1974. It was an unintende .....

Genetic Engineering
Words: 1111 - Pages: 5.... research in genetic engineering is bringing about new methods for curing
and treating major medical illnesses. The Human Genome Project has allowed
geneticists to map the genes of human beings. This project is far from complete,
as the DNA sequence of humans is extremely long, yet it will eventually show
geneticists which genes are responsible for certain inherited diseases.
Identified genes could be repaired, resulting in the irradiation of inherited
diseases, such as cancer. Just last year, the locations of genes for several
diseases were confirmed and may soon be correctable. Secondly, research in
genetics has brought about a new .....

Aquired Dyslexia
Words: 1877 - Pages: 7.... have thereby incurred some form of reading disability. This disability is known as acquired dyslexia.
From the study of such patients several variations of a basic model have been developed to highlight the way in which the written word is processed in the brain. The model is subdivided in to two main processing routes, the Non Lexical Route and the Lexical route.
A model produced based on theories from Coltheart (1981) shows that there are several routes to speech production in the brain. The eye first identifies the printed word. In the adult skilled reader the eye does not move in a smooth pattern but actually jumps to certain focus poin .....
