Astrology
Words: 4422 - Pages: 17.... Terrestrial animal gods, whether real or imagined , were one day
projected onto the constellations which, in the Chaldean imagination, they
resembled. This celestial menagerie has furthermore given the zodiac its name,
for in greek, it means "route of animals."
The sun enters the first zodiacal sign, Aries , and then continues its path
through the remaining eleven signs. The twelve signs of the zodiac are: Aries,
Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn,
Aquarius, and Pisces.
The moon and the planets pass through the signs too, but obviously at
different speeds from those of the sun. T .....

Basking Shark
Words: 1926 - Pages: 8.... to be quite a bit bigger
than the males, which is probably because they have to carry a whole other
organism within (Harman, 1996, 21).
Basking sharks have, at some point in time, also been known as the
elephant shark, the Bone shark, sailfish shark, and sunfish. The reason this
shark is occasionally referred to as the Bone shark, is because when they die,
they sink (their density is greater then the water's density) and are ravaged
among the sea floor, by rocks, etc. (Steel, 1985, 132). However, when they do
finally wash up on shore they are usually quite mutilated; their skeletons are all
that r .....

The Big Bang And The Steady State Model
Words: 1285 - Pages: 5.... to expand, and the galaxies have continued moving away from each other
ever since. Today the universe is still expanding, as astronomers have observed.
The Steady State model says that the universe does not evolve or change in
time. There was no beginning in the past, nor will there be change in the
future. This model assumes the perfect cosmological principle. This principle
says that the universe is the same everywhere on the large scale, at all times.2
It maintains the same average density of matter forever.
There are observational evidences found that can prove the Big Bang model
is more reasonable than the Steady Sta .....

Cfc
Words: 1018 - Pages: 4.... they reached the mid-stratosphere.(about 100,000 feet) At this point s would be broken down by short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation from the sun. This radiation is the one which would not reach the lower atmosphere in large amounts because of the ozone layer. When these s do brake down, they released atomic chlorine which then would react with the ozone and convert it back into plain oxygen. The even worse part of all this is that these chlorine molecules do not become inactive after the first reaction with the ozone and would be available to destroy more ozone molecules. Thus this process would be the function of a catalyst; a single ch .....

Cloning
Words: 459 - Pages: 2.... dangerous and morally unacceptable to our society..legislation must reaffirm our most cherished beliefs about the miracle of human life and the god-given individuality each person pocesses". Every person has his or her own mind. It would be cruel to make human clones without real parents, without being unique. If you were to make a copy of a human, you would not be treating that child as an individual. While many people want to be cloned, nobody wants to be a clone.
We must also remember that immoral means never justifies the end, no matter what benifits that end may bring. The horrific experiments conducted on Jewish Prisoner .....

Simple Machines
Words: 586 - Pages: 3.... easier. You use many machines in a day that you might take
for granted. For example a simple ordinary broom is a machine. It is a form of
a lever. Our country or world would never be this evolved if it wasn't for
machine. Almost every thing we do has a machine involved. We use machines to
manufacture goods, for transportation, ect.
In the W=F*d equation the trade of between force and distance is as you
use a machine the force goes down and distance goes up. If there was no friction
they would be equal and trade.
There are six simple machines. They are a lever, pulleys, inclined plain,
wheel and axle, screw, and wedge. The lev .....

Future Of Radio And The Internet
Words: 942 - Pages: 4.... way without any degradation of the original sound. One can make copies of copies with digital audio, and the hundredth will be exactly like the first.
The great advantage of digital audio with respect to radio is the possibility of listener interactivity. Currently, any interactivity is limited by the inability of the individual talk to the other end of a radio transmission chain. When one switches stations on our radio, there is no interaction, we are simply selecting from a series of predefined options, just like changing channels on television. If you switch from one station to another, none of the stations know about it, and can do noth .....

Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried Eating Them Away
Words: 554 - Pages: 3.... back to the time he had spent in the jungle so long
before. The two of them travel all over the country, but before their
departure, he returns to the field where he feels he lost everything. On
this list he includes his honor, his best friend, and all faith in himself.
For O'Brien, evidence of the parasite is not solely in his return Vietnam,
but rather a constant personal preoccupation that seems to flow through
the collection of stories. O'Brien shows how the memories of the war take
on a parasitic form, and uses himself as an example.
In the chapter ³Speaking of Courage², O'Brien introduces a character by
the name of Norman Bowke .....

Killer Bees
Words: 500 - Pages: 2.... by 1994.
The bees reached an apparent climatic limit to their southern range in the middle of Argentina, and their range is expected to be similarly limited to the southern and coastal states in the United States. They have hybridized to some extent with resident wild and hive populations of European honeybees. However, many of the basic African honeybee traits remain, including rapid population growth, frequent swarming, minimal hoarding of honey, the ability to survive on sparse supplies of pollen and nectar, and a highly defensive nature.
Africanized honeybees are more difficult to manage than European honeybees and produce less .....
