Words: 1626 - Pages: 6.... problem. Others are ignoring it and hoping it will go
away. Still others don't even seem to care. However, the facts are undeniable.
The studies have been carried out and all the results point to one conclusion:
Television violence causes children to be violent and the effects can be life-
long.
The information can't be ignored. Violent television viewing does
affect children. The effects have been seen in a number of cases. In New York,
a 16-year-old boy broke into a cellar. When the police caught him and asked
him why he was wearing gloves he replied that he had learned to do so to not
leave fingerprints and that he discove .....

Does Video Game Violence Affect Children?
Words: 603 - Pages: 3.... Kombat II (on Super Nintendo), Mortal Kombat (on Sega
Genesis), Killer Instinct Gold (on Nintendo 64), Power Rangers (on Sega Genesis),
Tomb Raider (on PC CD-ROM), and Bishouju Senshi Sayla Moon SuperS (on Japanese
Playstation).
The first step I used was gathering a group of children ages 8-10 years old (5
girls, and 5 boys), got their parents permission, and made sure they had no idea
there was an experiment taking place. The second step I took was observing the
children play together before being exposed to violent video games, I looked for
any sign of violent behavior. What I consider violent behavior is punching,
kicking, slapping .....

Image And Masculinity
Words: 589 - Pages: 3.... think is what a man should do. Just as if a father treats his wife badly, a young boy will pick up on this behavior and think it is acceptable for a man to treat a women that way. The reverse is also true. If a boy sees his father treat his mother with love and respect, he is likely to appreciate women.
A prominent image given to guys is that they have no feelings and would never cry. Crying is for girls or for homosexuals, it is thought. Over time this causes many bottled up feelings and results in a violent temper. Men are just as prone to be hurt as women are, but often have a harder time expressing it. The man is suppose .....

Uniforms In Public Schools
Words: 825 - Pages: 3.... students and raise their self-esteem. What students wear will no longer reveal their social and economic class, so they will be able to bring up their self-esteem. Students will also be free from the pressure to impress their friends with fashionable clothing. Not worrying about how to dress unique will allow students to develop their individuality and creativity. President Clinton also supports this view, “Young people will learn to evaluate themselves by what they are on the inside instead of what they’re wearing on the outside” (Discount Store News).
Wearing uniforms will produce a sense of belonging that the students will s .....

Generations
Words: 632 - Pages: 3.... about my generation's values. Hippies, Baby Boomers, and Gen-Xers all have values that are similar, but my generation is being questioned more than other generations. Values of my generation are rights to opinions, freedom, and attitude. Different generations have different values but most values are alike.
One value of my generation is the right to opinion. Ways of showing our rights to opinion is we have protests about what we feel is right and what we feel is wrong. Another way is the clothes we wear, we like to wear big, baggy clothes but society frowns upon this because they think we carry weapons or drugs and that we hide t .....

“Images Of Law Enforcement In The Toilet”
Words: 1097 - Pages: 4.... they look at them as abusive and trigger-happy. According to an article in USA Today, only 64% of White-Americans and 33% of African- Americans believe the police treat all people equally (Wickham 2000).
I am not saying that all policeman always use good judgement. There are times when they do exert unnecessary force, and in those cases they should be subject to the full penalty of the law. However, “only one of the previous eighty-four coroners inquests in Clark County has found an officer negligent in the killing of a suspect” (Puit 1999).
One example of an officer using unnecessary deadly force is in the case of Officer Morte .....

Communication Progresses Between People
Words: 808 - Pages: 3.... Thus, as
technology increases, we can clearly see attempts to get back to the "old
way" through usage of time saving methods.
One benefit of high-tech communications systems is the ability to make
previously impossible communications possible. Think of the father and son
separated by an ocean, one in England, the other in Newfoundland. This is
where the telephone plays a role. It facilitates an almost instantaneous
connection at a reasonable cost, and bridges a gap. Fortunately, this is
now made possible by satellite systems launched into orbit by a recently
developed rocket deployment system. Aside from this, people should a .....

Being Young
Words: 612 - Pages: 3.... dominate the youth's everyday. Perhaps
the reason is that they feel insecure and think that the "right" clothes will
give them a feeling of being accepted by the group. This phenomen has a negative
side. What if a pupil can't afford to buy these clothes? Will he or she be
excluded from the gang? Some schools in various countries have tried to solve
this problem. They have introduced a rule that allows pupils to go at school
only if they are dressed in a specific school-uniform. But many students don't
like these uniforms. They want to decide for themselves how to dress.
During the last years it has become more usual for parents to divor .....
