situations, admission to post-secondary institutions, hiring, and job benefits
and wages. It will also tackle what is being done to solve this problem and what
can be done to remedy the situation.
The late 1960s brought on the first real indication that feminist groups
were concerned with the education system in North America. The focus of these
feminist groups captured the attention of teachers, parents, and students. At
first the evidence for inequality in schooling was based on no more than
specific case studies and anecdotal references to support their claims but as
more peop .....

Slavery - Causes
Words: 642 - Pages: 3.... indentured servents were running away from their temporary masters, to
find a job where he could become more independent. Indentured servents
were also dying of many diseases, which was caused by harsh conditions. The
immigration of servents thus declined, becuase of the people in England
being informed of the harsh treatment in the colonies. The society was
where the land was easy to find, while the labor was most scarce.
Indentured servitude, was a form of labor which was declining, and the need
for labor increased rapidly.

Gangs
Words: 1525 - Pages: 6.... in gangs will pressure peers into becoming part of a gang by making
it all sound glamorous. Money is also an crucial factor. A kid (a 6-10
year old, who is not yet a member) is shown that s/he could make $200 to
$400 for small part time gang jobs. Although these are important factors
they are not strong enough to make kids do things that are strongly against
their morals.
One of the ways that kids morals are bent so that gang violence
becomes more acceptable is the influence of television and movies. The
average child spends more time at a TV than she/he spends in a classroom.
Since nobody can completely turn off their minds, .....

Privacy For Public Officials
Words: 1544 - Pages: 6.... that is presented by the press. Throughout the past 50 years the relationship between public officials and the press has gone from excellent to horrendous. All of these factors have led to the personalization of politics and made it impossible for public officials to have any kind of private life.
One of the more interesting aspects of the recent coverage of political scandals has been the press' extensive coverage of itself. Not only has the behavior of political leaders been under fire, but also the media's reporting of it. Media outlets are now more plentiful than ever, with online news sources joining those established in radio, .....

Christmas, Retailers, And The Santa Claus Conspiracy
Words: 975 - Pages: 4.... tell him
what they "really" want (strangely enough there are some parents out there who
actually pay money each year to have this abuse inflicted upon their children).
The whole idea of Santa Claus is one of the scariest I've come across
and yet we embrace it. The entire story sounds like something you should
threaten your kid with if he doesn't want to eat his veggies. As I understand
it he's supposed to be a fat man wearing red underwear who is capable of sliding
down your chimney unharmed in order to quietly slip into your house while you're
sleeping. If he really existed I'd be sitting up with a loaded shotgun every
Christmas Eve, n .....

protecting our children from the violence on our television.
Television cartoons often feature dehumanized characters, such as
Transformers and the Ninja Turtles, who engage in the destructive acts of
violence by fighting our real life social problems. With acts of violence, kids
learn to think that's how they should solve their problems. MTV's Beavis and
Butt-head encourages fire, smoking, foul language, drinking and stealing. With
these bad attitudes seen depicted as normal on TV shows kids are lead to
