My Great-Grandmother Was Not A Person
Words: 634 - Pages: 3.... labour jobs
that men held. For example, women worked in coal mines, armories, and aided the
war effort via the manufacturing industry, such as factorys. If this is what is
determeined as equality then women were getting the short end of the stick and
men were receiving all of the benifit. This perception still holds strong today,
although not as strongly.
Men said that women were to fragile to vote. Yet no man has ever experienced
labor pains. Furthermore no man has fought any battle that was as hard as the
one the famous five women have fought. The Election Act of the Dominion of
Canada states that "No woman, idiot, lunatic, or criminal .....

Same Sex Marriages
Words: 839 - Pages: 4.... these words that have provided strict
guidelines for all these years no longer have any meaning or promise because we
are no longer a people? Or is it right to think that we are adopted into the
family of God and are now apart of His people? Who decides? What if your
family isn't Christian, does the law of God apply to you? (God)
For years and years these were the words that nearly everyone followed.
Only people who were clearly wrong dared to disobey the word of God. It was
clearly black and white, and often times church leaders were looked to for
advice on what to do when we are faced with a choice. After all, they “
represent” .....

Violence On Television
Words: 1783 - Pages: 7.... violence and aggressive behavior" (Wurtzel,
21), why is it that "the Saturday morning "kid vid ghetto" is the most
violent time on T.V." (Methvin, 49), and that "despite slight variations
over the past decade, the amount of violence on television has remained at
consistently high levels" (Wurtzel, 23)? Why is it that, like the tobacco
companies twenty years ago, the present day television broadcasting
companies refuse to consent that violent films and programming can and do
have harmful effects on their viewers (Rowland, 280) What can be done to
combat the stubborn minded broadcasting companies and to reduce the amount
of violent scenes .....

Words: 701 - Pages: 3.... possible for we are all unique individuals and have our own likes and dislikes. For instance, a person who enjoys pornographic material has the right to read or view this material if he or she enjoys this type of material. On the other hand people who feel pornographic material is obscene or offensive and do not care to partake in it do not have to view or read this type of material. Who’s to say what a person likes or enjoys is wrong because a .....

"Does The Military Continue To Have Sexual Harassment And Discrimination Against Women In The 90's?"
Words: 1495 - Pages: 6.... integration into the military has also differed in several ways. Because
of our society's fundamental belief that protecting the home and going to war
are a man's work, men from minority groups have often been accepted more
readily in the military than the women. Women have been viewed as outsiders in
a male environment. Discrimination and harassment occurs for women because we
are entering an all male dominated area. Some areas are still restricted
because of it. For example: serving in direct combat capacities such as armor,
infantry, and special forces--branches from which much of the senior leadership
is drawn. “In 1994, the annua .....

The Detrimental Effect Of An Education In A Foreign Language
Words: 894 - Pages: 4.... program has been used for only two years. The ESL method is more effective because of the removal of flaws such as unnecessary costs to the taxpayer, slower advancement in grade level, and the detrimental effect to education in California.
The primary fault of the old system was that California taxpayers were not receiving fair representation. In general, most taxpayers were English speaking, and consequently wanted English to be the language that was used in their schools. Most of the immigrant parents were in California legally but not paying taxes. Even though they were not paying for services such as a police force or fire protec .....

constructed speeches and hunger strikes, the refusal to obey certain laws and
the passive resistance, that is, resisting to incoming violence usually from the
government, are other ways to morally protest without any physical violence.
Sometimes due to the refusal to abide to certain laws the supporters may find
abusive, the moral force protest supporters might find themselves confronting
the law, and perhaps even acting illegally. In recent years, certain countries
which hadn't previously given women the right to vote changed their decision by
receiving strong moral force protest; this right was gaine .....

Appearances - A Universal Concern
Words: 982 - Pages: 4.... class, cultural, geographical,
chronological, and religious borders, to name a few. What may be considered very
attractive by one group may even be seen as repulsive in another. The gangster
with tattoos all over his body, clothed in attire that is much too large, with
rings in all the most unexpected places, and sporting an outrageous hairdo,
considers himself very attractive indeed. Yet, so do the tall, smartly dressed
businesspersons with their suit, tie, and white handkerchief. Men and women of
the Victorian era, when women's ankles were not even permitted to be exposed,
would surely be shocked at the revealing outfits that have been d .....

What Are Teens Supposed To Do?
Words: 549 - Pages: 2.... plenty of things they could do and they would even be content with hanging out in the neighborhood with friends. Now that these kids are becoming young adults and are craving their independence it seems as though they are being left out of all of the fun.
Here is the jest of the problem, Teenagers are too old to enjoy going to Chuck-E-Cheese and Discovery Zone and places of that nature, and they are too young to get into most of the night clubs and bars legally.
