Three Values Every Child Should Learn
Words: 422 - Pages: 2.... Bible commands that a person treat others the way he wants to be treated. Children must be shown how to show respect to other people so they can receive that respect.
Another important value children learn from their parents is to be independent. Children who are not taught independence will have both social and emotional problems later in life. Every person needs to understand how important it is to be an individual and take care of themselves. When children are young, they are constantly taken care of. They are feed when hungry, bathed when dirty and entertained at the first cry of boredom. It is difficult to wean a person from thi .....

Animal Rights
Words: 1337 - Pages: 5.... the topic.
The rights of animals have always been important to me during my life.
This is due to the fact that I have had a dog for a pet for as long as I
remember. On this topic I feel as though having domesticated animals in the home
is fine as long as proper care is taken of them. As for more controversial issue
like animal research and experimentation my views vary. A few years ago I felt
that any research or experimentation on animals was inhumane and unjust. However
after maturing and becoming more aware of the world, I now feel as though there
are definite ‘goods’ that come from animal research that can not come from doing

Welfare Reform
Words: 1708 - Pages: 7.... from taxes paid by the
citizens and corporations of the United States. In other words, money is
taken from some people and handed out to others. The welfare system
includes any government assistance program where people’s eligibility is
determined by their financial need.
In recent years, policy-makers of the welfare program have come to
believe that certain changes should be made to our welfare policy.
Instead of just offering money to its recipients, the government also
offers job opportunities and training for these people on welfare. The
main goal of the welfare program is to get people off of welfare and into
jobs. The welfa .....

The State Of The US Family
Words: 880 - Pages: 4.... high divorce rate and an increase in unwed mothers" (Henslin 323). With the high divorce rate and unwed mothers, there seems to be a lack of stability in the family. The children of these homes only have one parental role model to draw their elements of social integration from. Also, since our society is obviously based on two-sexes, these children are emerging unbalanced and unprepared to deal with the pressures and demands a two-sex society has. The text states that these children tend to live in homes with less income. In divorce situations, the income is being split between two households, and sometimes two separate families. .....

Transition From Adolescence To Young Adulthood
Words: 653 - Pages: 3.... I chosen the path that I want to take?
The first step that I want to complete during my twenties is to attend college and graduate from a major university. A common transition for many when becoming an adult is the completion of one’s education (296).
For many students, attending college immediately after high school permits them to grow and develop intellectually and personally. I feel that attending college plays a very important role in gaining experience for the real world, acquiring knowledge beyond my career field, and growing cognitively by thinking in new ways. College is the perfect time to learning to think cognitively becaus .....

Gender Roles: The Discrimination Against Men
Words: 1137 - Pages: 5.... women. In the 1990s, the men's movement
arose in society to try and deal with the problem of sexism against men.
This movement came about due to a medley of factors: women's criticisms of
men's shortcomings as husbands, fathers, and lovers; the debilitating
pressures of the economy and men's unequal responsibility to succeed in the
workplace, to prove their worth by making money; and men's confusion over
what it means to be a man today.
There are many stereotypes about men and women that are heard every
day. The most common, however, is how men are considered jerks. That is one
of the most popular ideas in our society today. Women hav .....

Youth Violence
Words: 1313 - Pages: 5.... be better equipped to help prevent by attempting to understand the nature of the problem, and by implementing recommendations to solve it.
One of the best predictors of aggression and violence in young people is family abuse. Being abused or neglected as a child increases the likelihood of arrest as a juvenile by 53% (league of Women Voters of Texas Education Fund. 1994, p.3). In Houston Texas, Judge Eric Andell stated that “95% of all youth seen in court share one very predictable problem: alcoholism in the family” (league of Women Voters of Texas Education Fund. 1994, p.5). Each day, nearly 3,000 children see their parents divor .....

Gangs
Words: 1591 - Pages: 6.... towards hispanics.
There's a gang that is called The Satanic Cult, which is into some
pretty weird rituals. They consisted of animal and human sacrifices and
people with brown hair were forbidden and non-caucasians.
There are many different gangs. Now there's one I am familiar
with, the Necronomicon, who jumped me and my homeboy (who's Latino) just
because we weren't white.
Another one would belong to the punks. Which I do not have a
problem with. The only two punk gangs I know of, do not call themselves
"Gangs" but they call themselves a crew. They call themselves CFH,
(Cowboys From Hell) and the other one is .....
