Wars and pulp fiction and New York Times Bestsellers and forgets what literature
is until it slaps him in the face. This book was written, not churned out or
word-processed. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
I never noticed it until it was brought up in class, maybe because it wasn't a
point for me in In Our Time, but He doesn't often enough credit quotations with,
",he said," or, ",said Brett," or, ",Bill replied." In SAR it stood and called
attention to itself. I wasn't particularly bothered by His not telling me who
said what, but it was very...pointed. I first noticed around the hundredth page
or so. Then I realized I cou .....

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn: Superstitutions
Words: 913 - Pages: 4.... and I
have never heard any one speak of those superstitions. Huck believes in
these probably because he grew up with them and they were always taught to
him and he is so ignorant he does not know better.
One morning Huck turned over the salt-cellar at breakfast. He went
to throw the salt- cellar over his left shoulder to cancel the bad luck,
but Miss Watson stopped him. All day he wondered when something would fall
on him and what it would be. This all implies that Huck thinks something
is going to fall on him, because of his accident. I have heard about bad
luck from spilling salt so I think this Superstition started in the North
or .....

Prejudice In To Kill A Mocking
Words: 1195 - Pages: 5.... (Lee 90).”
So why did death come to Tom Robinson, such a kind hearted loving person, whose only true sin was pity for a white woman.
There are many other instances in To Kill A Mockingbird where racism is clearly shown. When Aunt Alexandra makes her first appearance in the novel, she says to Calpurnia,
“Put my bags in the front bedroom, Calpurnia (Lee 127).” This shows the lack of respect and feeling of superiority that Aunt Alexandra has for Calpurnia, because of the colour of her skin.
The inhabitants of the small Southern town of Maycomb are so unaware of their words that racism and racial slander has become a .....

Tortilla Flat Evaluation
Words: 507 - Pages: 2.... well I won't spoil it, you'll
have to go through the pain of reading this book.
Most of the characters in the book weren't very interesting, but
if I have to choose one character, it would have to be Danny. That's
the obvious choice. He's the main character and he's pretty easy to
talk about. Danny is not that interesting, it's just that all of the
other characters are really boring. One thing that I thought was
interesting is how Danny was quite a drinker. He got drunk a lot.
And he ended up. . . whoops! Almost slipped you the ending.
Anyway, Danny was also the character that gave all of the other
characters their shelte .....

Distorting his name, inventing a seventeen-year-old self-conception, he masked his counterfeit wealth from bootlegging with an image he wore with the help of Dan Cody. He was the man that gave Gatsby the opportunity. After Cody’s death Gatsby “was left with his singularly appropriate education; the vague contour of Jay Gatsby had filled out to the substantiali .....
