Another good example of the reluctance to act against the group would be the Rodney King incident. People are made to believe that they are always being watched by Big Brother, which they are. Knowing that anything they say, think or do is being seen by the "Big Brother" people will began to believe and think what they are told is the truth, if they do not, they are tort .....

.... I've never honestly read any Hemmingway previously. I've started to read The Sun Also Rises about ten times and gotten waylaid by Batman, Robert B. Parker, and the like each time. I think I read The Old Man and the Sea ages ago in high school, but it was so long ago that it has slipped completely from my memory. He is one of those authors that I always connect with my father and his college years for some reason, although I'm not entirely sure why. I've always wanted to read Hemmingway, but I've always wanted to read all of Shakespeare, Homer, and Eliot, too. The edition I'm reading has the short stories separated by "Chapters" which .....

He doesn't care if he's going to hell since he believes that he has done unpleasant things before in his life. But the main reason is to help .....

By today's more sensitive standards, such deference is more serious, but turn-of-the-century England was sure to expect far harsher. Educated people reading Conrad's novel should understand the differences between the past and the present, and be forgiving of his language. The deeper the expedition progressed into the center of the continent, the more isolation was felt by the crew. In a sense, Central Africa IS the antithesis of Western Europe -- it lacks not only the hectic urban structures but also the Social Darwin .....
