If Heathcliff was the narrator, you wouldn't know how Isabella or Edgar felt; due to their lack of communication or friendship. art.
My Antonia is told from the point of view of Willa Cather's
fictional friend, Jim Burden. He writes in the first person, and his use
of the pronoun "I" makes you feel his personal involvement. The point of
view is immediate and subjective. Looking back on his memories, he knows
what is eventually going to happen to the characters. He persuades you to
sympathize with all of them. His perception, being broad and persuasive,
sets the tone for the whole book. What is the purpose of having the story
told by Jim Burden thirty years later? From that perspective he can

this, he makes a friend, James Jarvis, that changes the way he has looked on
life.
The tribal breakdown starts to show in book I, with the land that the
tribe must use and how the people have used up the natural resources that used
to lay there. The whites pushed them out of where they used to reside where the
land is so good that it could be even referred to as “holy, being even as it

The Romantically Impaired Pruf
Words: 807 - Pages: 3.... a machine going. Prufrock himself is something of an exception, but not much of one(Fryxell 110).
Eliot's dramatic monologue is built around three major themes. The first of these is the time theme. Drenched with anxiety, Prufrock says: "And indeed there will be time." Prufrock uses time as an excuse to remain comfortable in his undisturbed universe. By opening the fourth stanza with: "And indeed there will be time," Eliot echoes the memorable line: "Had we but world enough and time' from Andrew Marvell's seductive poem, "To His Coy Mistress." Ironically, Prufrock does not feel compelled to seize the day(Pagnattaro 108). Prufro .....

Christianity In Dostoyevsky's Crime And Punishment: An Overview
Words: 2439 - Pages: 9.... execution followed by ten years' hard
labor in a Siberian prison (Morsm 50).
One critic said “It has been customary to say that Dostoyevsky re-

element and surrounded by hardened criminals, he had plenty of time to
contemplate life and read The New Testament (the only book he was allowed).
However, it was not until his compulsory army service that Dostoyevsky's
faith began to blossom. In the army, Dostoyevsky met a fellow officer and
devout Christian named Baron von Vrangel, who befriended the still young
Dostoevesky and helped him re-discover the Christian .....
