Scout’s father, Atticus Finch, was a defense attorney during the Great Depression. Just like everyone in Maycomb County, his economic conditions were very poor. Judge Taylor assigns him the task of defending Tom Robinson, a married black man accused of raping the eldest daughter of Bob Ewell, the head of a family that “…had been the disgrace of Maycomb for three generations.” As the story progresses, .....

.... mentality. An example of this Lt. Scheisskopf's obsession with parades that he sees the men more as puppets than as human beings. At one point in the novel, he even wants to wire them together so their movements will be perfectly precise--just as mindless puppets would be. This theme also appears when Colonel Cathcart keeps increasing the number of missions his squadron must fly--not for military purposes, but to solely enhance his prestige. One other example of this theme is in the novel, when Yossarian is wounded. He is told to take better care of his leg because it is government property. Soldiers, therefore, are not even .....

As the Scapegoat they place the blame on television, violent movies, and video games. Theorists and psychologists say that the harsh and abrasive nature of movies like the Matrix and Rambo are absorbed into the maturing mind of adolescence and are seen as fact. As is the case in Don Quixote where our chivalric hero takes arms after reading one to many romance novels. Every one sees the irony of Don Quixote, and enjoys it in its more obvious forms. At the young age that Johnny was at, and to face death, it must have took a lot of courage to stay positive. Johnny kept fighting, determined to recuperate, even if he had to do things himself. "I watched him give himself a hypodermic injection of liver extract on the side above the hip, an awkward place to reach. I could not possibly have done on anybody, let alone myself." (p77) Johnny, had to take hypodermic injections, and were more than painful, and gave himself the shots. That shows .....

.... about her family. She finds her brother's name, but not her parents' names, on a list of survivors. While in New York, Ned was so taken aback by the tragedy that he cannot take in the sounds and sights of America. He is shell-shocked by the greatest experience of his life so far. Ned finally builds up the inner courage to go back to Ireland. He is in horrible shape. The Titanic tragedy had really affected the way he chose to look at life. When Ned returns to Ireland, he takes it upon himself to tell Dan .....

.... Being around Mr. Wilson shows Margot what is lacking in her husband more than she previously realized. The real problems begin when Macomber, Wilson and Margot go hunting lions. Macomber shoots poorly and flushes the lion into a space where it can not be seen easily, as Wilson says: "Can't see him until you're on him." (Page 14). As the two men go to clear the lion out, he (the lion) charges and Macomber can not kill the lion without Wilson's help. This is when Mrs. Macomber begins to think of her husband as a coward. In an attempt to gain some of his wife's lost respect for him, Macomber decides that the next day they will hunt .....

.... Hercules was much stronger than Theseus, but Theseus made up for this small loss in other ways. Second, Theseus was very smart. Because of his great intellect the Athenians, people who valued thought and ideas, chose him and not Hercules as their hero. Theseus escaped from the Labyrinth and killed the Minotaur. Neither of these tasks were easy and required someone with aptitude unlike Hercules. Theseus always thought things through and made good decisions. Hercules' foolishness was shown on many occasions such as when he killed his family and his music teacher. Theseus' intellect is one very valuable quality which makes him more worth .....
