His realization of his level in society at that time seems to drive him to add more value to his life. As many of the richer people start to buy land, Pahom also decides to buy land because of the influence of pressure surrounding him. He is trying to move up and become wealthier, but at the corresponding time he is forgetting some of the things that were important to him before he acquired his new property. .... book, I saw many of the faucets of the novel that I would have expected to come up in a motion picture. The separation between good and evil was done brilliantly through Mammoulian’s use of lighting. The most evident example of this is through the eyes of Dr. Jekyll. When Jekyll is running through his daily routine, the sets are bright with adequate lighting. On the other hand, when Mr. Hyde comes into the picture the scenes drastically become dark and frightening. I think this split is in conjunction with the two personalities that Dr. Jekyll displays. This was a little weird. I was wondering how this song got into their minds. The Earth Men This story tells about people from Earth landing on Mars. The Martians give them a hard time as if they were not from Earth. This was later explained when they were thrown into a mental institution. They later showed the doctor their rocket, but he thought the men were telepathic so he killed them and later killed himself. I was amused to see .....

In her critique, the female artist in Kate Chopin's The Awakening: Birth and Creativity, Carlene Stone takes the reader through stages of Edna's struggle to become an artist showing direct correlation with her becoming and individual and in control of her own self. For example she states how Robert's encouragement while she is painting is very innocent in the beginning but eventually lead's to the awakening of her passions of her body and her falling in love with Robert. The characters in her story think that they are ugly , by others opinions of them , and want to become beautiful so they will be recognized and be the center of attention.
