Hamlet 3
Words: 244 - Pages: 1.... important issues in the play are the "psychological issues" involved. How do two relatively unimportant characters in Shakespeare's play interpret what is going on around them? What is the audience's response? What role do the Players hold in each of the two works?
As an authority on Shakespearean works, I would consider Stoppard's play to be very enriching in both the interpretation of Hamlet as well as the consideration of what role Hamlet plays in modern society. Aside from that, the play "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" addresses issues of isolation, sanity, depression, and luck that are not necessarily supposed to be related .....

Frankenstein
Words: 1285 - Pages: 5.... is not understood completely by humans. Humans are scared of what they do not understand. This is portrayed in when the creature is shunned by society simply because he looked different from them and they did not understand him. People are scared of what they do not understand, which is why they were frightened by Victor’s creature. The desire to understand death leads to the desire to control it. Even though death is something that is out of the control of humans, human nature has the urge to be in control of everything. The novel fascinates people because death has been overcome, at least that is how it appears in the beginni .....

Catcher In The Rye
Words: 439 - Pages: 2.... make it seem he was very knowing of these
habits. Holden used the term 'phonies' to describe more than a few people in this book.
He used the term to be what a person is if they don't act naturally and follow other
people's manners and grace. Holden didn't like phonies, he thought of them as if they
were trying to show off. He didn't like it when they showed off because it seemed so fake
and unnatural every time they would do so. "At the end of the first act we went out with
all the other jerks for a cigarette. What a deal that was. You never saw so many phonies
in all your life, everybody smoking their ears off and talking about t .....

Analysis Of Mark Strand’s “Kee
Words: 524 - Pages: 2.... more meaning, with the hope that the reader will pause and contemplate what was just read. His stanzas are concluded when he wants more attention placed on his current idea.
The narrator’s viewpoint towards life in this poem is quite different from how most people see it. Where he writes, “In a field / I am the absence / of field.” (ll. 1-3) instead of acknowledging his existence as something, he regards it as a lack of something. This negativity towards himself is what the entire poem is focused on.
He uses the idea that when his body enters an area the parts of that area are momentarily interrupted and are forced around him, just .....

Words: 683 - Pages: 3.... cages.” We also see this evident when he is describing the way it took six guards to escort a “puny wisp of a man.” He says, “It was like men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump back into the water.”
The author’s purpose is to also allow the audience to understand the way the guards and superintendent felt towards the prisoners. We see this when the superintendent is upset because the execution is running late, and says, “For God’s sake hurry up, Francis.” And “The man ought to have been dead by this time.” This allows the reader to see the disrespect the authority has towards the prisoners.
We see that .....

Communism In Animal Farm
Words: 986 - Pages: 4.... pigs, and their enemies, the human beings. This book is an excellent representation of why communism does not work through use of fictional characters. Karl Marx also wrote a book, Communist Manifesto, which tries to show how communism would work. Marx's theory of the thesis, antithesis, and synthesis can be found in George Orwell's Animal Farm.
The thesis, or the old way of doing things, can be represented by the years Mr. Jones owns and operates Manor Farm. The terrible abuse and neglect of the animals on the farm is because Mr. Jones gets drunk almost everyday. He uses animals for his own success and does not even think about thei .....

Beowulf: A Man Of Many Values
Words: 1785 - Pages: 7.... his failure; his failure being
that he did not survive the wrath of the dragon. In this story, Beowulf
clearly demonstrates the Germanic values of a warrior society, including
bravery, prowess in battle, loyalty, generosity, and a belief in wyrd,
which is Latin for fate.
First of all, Beowulf demonstrates the value of bravery. This
value was essential for a warrior to be successful. While other men were
too frightened and intimidated by Grendel, Beowulf showed no fear toward
his challenges. While Grendel was a supernatural destructive force,
Beowulf discarded this notion and fought with all his might. After easily
destroying Grend .....

Huck Finn
Words: 1336 - Pages: 5.... Huck and Jim encounter on land. The satire that Twain uses to expose the hypocrisy, racism, greed and injustice of society develops along with the adventures that Huck and Jim have. The ugly reflection of society we see should make us question the world we live in, and only the journey down the river provides us with that chance. Throughout the book, we see the hypocrisy of society. The first character we come across with that trait is Miss Watson. Miss Watson constantly corrects Huck for his unacceptable behavior, but Huck doesn't understand why, "That is just the way with some people.
