Against Gun Control
Words: 679 - Pages: 3.... among potential victims and criminals found that the overall effect on criminal violence was zero.(4) In one study, researchers found no significant differences in total robbery rates between cities where guns were widely available and cities where they were not; in cities with fewer firearms, armed robbers simply used other weapons.(5)The best available evidence, based on at least eight national surveys of the general adult population, indicates that guns are used about as often for defensive as for criminal purposes.6 The experience of other nations also provides little support for the notion that guns cause crime.(7) Switzerland has on .....

Canada's Copyright Law
Words: 861 - Pages: 4.... now we can copy video tapes almost
as easily. If you hook two VCR's together, they can copy from one to the
other. You could rent a movie form the video store, copy and return it,
with no one the wiser.
The problem with copying video and audio tapes is that for every
copy you make the recording artist, the actors, producers and everyone
else who collect royalties from the tapes lose money. If the companies
start to lose money, they raise prices. Thus a vicious circle begins. As
prices go up, fewer people buy original copies. If less people buy the
original cassettes prices will once again rise.
Another major form .....

Handgun Control In The United States
Words: 1050 - Pages: 4.... his "boom box" radio. A few
days earlier, in Pasadena, Texas, a 14-year-old eight grader at Deepwater Junior
High School whipped a snub-nosed .38 out of his jacket and held the assistant
principal hostage for two hours. Police said the boy was distraught over his
parents' recent separation. (Stanza 19) These were not isolated incidents. All
across America, the number of kids using- and being harmed by-guns is rising at
an alarming rate. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 27,000
youths between 12 and 15 were handgun victims in 1985, up from an average of
16,500 for each of the previous years (Stanza 19). The incre .....

Drink Up - Drunk Driving Should Be Legalized
Words: 360 - Pages: 2.... who has been drinking is usually
the one who survives the accident, often with out a scratch. Allowing
people who have been drinking to drive would also improve the quality of
life for those who choose not to drink. Currently people who have been
drinking are legally required to use some form of transportation other than
them operating a motor vehicle. This requires them to hang around where
they are and get a ride with someone else or wait or some public
transportation. With the legalization of driving while drunk the non-
drinking population would not need to be bothered by drunk people that do
not have rides. Finally, this would .....

Drugs And Legalization
Words: 552 - Pages: 3.... of large profits, the drug dealing profession
would lose its luster. A major problem is that teenagers see selling drugs as
the only way to make money. Minimum wage salaries can not compare to the huge
profits associated with dealing. In a drug community, the drug dealers are seen
as the center of the community. They become role models for the children,
replacing their parents. Eliminating the drug dealer will force these young
children into the reality that education is the way to make money, not selling
drugs.

Also many advocates who are pro marijuana complain that morphine and cocaine are legal and are very dangerous drugs, that brings up the question why not legalize marijuana as medical drug which is proven to be less dangerous than cocaine and morphine. Cannabis Hemp. . .Marijuana!
Words: 4498 - Pages: 17.... place of lesser importance in
world commerce due to the lack of mechanized harvesting and breaking
technology needed for mass production. But this natural resource was far
too valuable to be relegated to the back burner of history forever.
In 1916, a U.S. Department of Agriculture bulletin predicted that once a
docortication and harvesting machine was developed, cannabis would again
become America's largest agricultural industry. Some 22 years later,
Popular Mechanics introduced a new generation of investors to just such a
device, (See the February 1989 issue of HIGH TIMES.) which brings us to
this next bit of history: .....

for the safe and affordable distribution of marijuana to all patients in medical
need of marijuana. (Proposition 215 Section 11362.5)
Of course, it goes on and breaks into fine detail into which I choose
not to venture. To summarize it all, if you're sick, or think you are, your doc
can get you some pot. Just like that.
So what's so great about this? It supposedly brings relief to those
with terminal illnesses. (Such were listed in 215) Cancer sufferers .....
