Words: 868 - Pages: 4.... the show has heaps of informative lessons that people can apply to make their everyday life better, I continue to watch. This attraction I have for this show is so deep in though and value, provided that I am able to stay focused on the entire show. Anti-Semitism In The Merchant Of Venice
Words: 499 - Pages: 2.... flawed way of looking at it. I see the play as a
confrontation of a modern day problem which society still faces. Rather than
providing a forum for racism to grow, the play provides a forum for anti-racism
discussion, if all proper steps are taken. When I say if all proper steps are
taken, I am referring to having this play taught by a teacher, who can explain
the plays meaning in it's fullest so that the students do not miss any important
points from it.
Another point that may have been missed when the presentation was made to
the school board to ban the material from being taught inside the school system
was that everyone is bad in .....

Henry IV: Redemption
Words: 2050 - Pages: 8.... prince, versus Hotspur,
the proper prince. Hal understands that he has been branded with the label,
"truant to chivalry,"(5.1. 95) and as the heir to the throne, he realizes that
it is imperative that he redeem himself not only for himself, but also for his
father and his people because life will not always be a holiday , for "If all
the year were playing holidays, To sport would be as tedious as work" (1.2. 211-
212). However Hal needs some type of strength to make his realization come true.
Luckily Hal's father, the King is willing to lend several comments that enrage
him and provide him with the necssary motivation. It also seems th .....

King Lear: Comedy Or Tragedy?
Words: 1191 - Pages: 5.... feeling of fear in the play as well, that makes men see how
blind they are not knowing when fortune or something else would be on them.
The hero must be of a high status on the chain and the hero also possesses
a tragic flaw that initiates the tragedy. The fall of the hero is not felt
by him alone but creates a chain reaction which affects everything below
him. There must also be the element of chance or accident that influences
some point in the play.
King Lear meets all of these requirements that has been laid out by Bradley
which is the most logical for a definition of a tragedy as compared to the
definition of a comedy by G. Wilson .....

MTV And The Madonna Phenomenon
Words: 2157 - Pages: 8.... bringing
up Madonna. She can be discussed in terms of feminism, ideology, hegemony and
commercialism as seen in both Kaplan's as well as in John Fiske's article on
British Cultural Studies.
In order to properly explain how the “Madonna Phenomenon” has become
such an important concept in media studies, one must look first at how
influential MTV (music television) has become in the last decade. MTV addresses
the “desires, fantasies, and anxieties” of young people(Kaplan 270) who have,
like myself, grown up in a decade when all the traditional institutions and
theories that were always respected, are being questioned. It has become t .....

Desdemona and she goes to be with Othello.
*Near the end of the first scene of the second .....

Everyone In A Man For All Seasons Is Pursuing Their Own Ends. What Makes More Different?
Words: 2213 - Pages: 9.... He is one of very few people who have died with
their integrity intact. He is a special man, who is steadfast in upholding his
principles, even when death breathes down his neck. Sir Thomas More truly is a
paragon.
One character in the play particularly concerned with his goals, regardless of
the path he must take to reach them is Thomas Cromwell. Cromwell is the
personification of pragmatism and is willing to do anything, providing the end
sees him satisfied. "…our job as administrators is to make it as convenient as
we can," Cromwell states in reference to the King's divorce and the pursuit of
More's support. He is "…the King's ear," .....

Movie Review Of It’s A Wonderful Life
Words: 622 - Pages: 3.... played Mr. Potter commendably. He really seemed to fit the part. As the audience, I grew a strong grudge against him, from the beginning.
Clarence, an angel, was sent down to save George from doing evil by committing suicide. The angel saved him in many ways. George didn’t commit suicide, because he was too busy saving Clarence. Clarence took him to "Pottersville" and showed him what the world would be like if he was never born. That saved George in a way as well. George learned what he had to be thankful for.
I thought this film to be very intellectual. It told a wonderful story, yet taught valuable lessons. Clarence taught Ge .....

Epic Theatres
Words: 1073 - Pages: 4.... critical detachment, the moral
dilemmas presented before them.
In order to analyse and evaluate the action occurring on stage, Brecht believed
that the audience must not allow itself to become emotionally involved in the
story. Rather they should, through a series of anti-illusive devices, feel
alienated from it. The effect of this deliberate exclusion makes it difficult
for the audience to empathise with the characters and their predicament. Thus,
they could study the play's social or political message and not the actual
events being performed on stage. This process is called Verfremdungseffekt, or
the alienation effect, where ins .....

The Tempest: Drunk And More Drunk
Words: 516 - Pages: 2.... During the duration of the story their drunkenness causes
them to do things that normally they wouldn't do. They blindly attempt to
take on Prospero, a powerful sorcerer and scheme how to defeat and kill him.
Who in their sober mind take on an all powerful sorcerer? This is quite
amusing because it shows us how incredibly foolish we act when we are drunk.
Of course their attempt to take on Prospero proves to be futile, instead
they play dress up with his cloaks and when Prospero shows up, Stephano and
Trinculo run for their lives and leave Calaban behind carrying the clothes
they attempted to steal.
Trinculo and Stephano .....
