The National Endowment For The Arts
Words: 906 - Pages: 4.... things would possibly die out completely. Unfortunately, most of those opposed to the NEA have been supplied with misinformation that alters their perception of the issue. However, if given the facts about how the NEA can benefit not only the artisans, but also the whole nation, those opposers might change their mind in support of the arts program.
One of the biggest arguments against federal funding for the arts is that it costs too much money and that the government is already in debt too severely to provide for something as unnecessary as art. True, the government is extremely in debt, but what most people don’t know is that the N .....

Shawshank Redemption
Words: 475 - Pages: 2.... how some convicts, once they conform, lose the ability to survive beyond the barbed wire and iron bars. As one of the characters puts it: "These [prison] walls are funny. First you hate them, then you get used to them, then you start to depend on them."
Filmed on location in a disused Ohio prison, The is set in a place of perpetual dreariness. What little color there is, is drab and lifeless (lots of grays and muted greens and blues), and there are times when the film is a shade away from black-and-white (give credit to cinematographer Roger Deakins, a longtime Cohen brothers collaborator). It's ironic, therefore, that the central messages .....

Julius Caesar: Jealousy
Words: 483 - Pages: 2.... Cassius thinks that Caesar's
temper is dangerous. He declares, "Ye gods! It doth amaze me, / A man of such a
feeble temper should / So get the start of the majestic world, / And bear the
palm alone" (Act I, sc. II, 128-131).
Casca also is jealous of Caesar. He is disgusted by Caesar's
manipulation of the commoners. He describes it as "mere foolery" (Act I, sc. II,
235). Casca agrees with Cassius that Brutus is an essential part the
conspiracy. He says, "O, he sits high in all the people's hearts; / And that
which would appear offense in us, / His countenance, like richest alchemy, /
Will change to virtue and to worthin .....

Words: 1541 - Pages: 6.... "The glass of fashion and the mould of form,/ The observed of all observers." A modern boy scout to say the least, but as the play unwinds, his actions and thoughts catch him and slowly turn him insane. Not to say that he was a crazed madman out of touch with reality as was Ophelia, but a man driven crazy by thought. Hamlet's behavior throughout the play, especially towards Ophelia is inconsistent. He jumps into Ophelia's grave, and fights with Laertes in her grave. He professes "I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers/Could not, with all their quantity of love,/ Make up my sum" [HV, I,250-253], during the fight with Laertes in .....

does nothing, yet leaves nothing undone."(pg. 38) The Master does not rely on
the world of the senses to decide her action.
Everything the crew of the enterprise tried to do was based on
