Virtues That Change Society In The Future
Words: 755 - Pages: 3.... in the future? After a brief overview of the list I was not impressed. Maybe these would apply to Franklin's day but not to the twentieth century. With a few subtractions and additions the list of virtues may be a helpful tool in any persons life.
Temperance is first on the list and is the most important of the virtues. As Franklin states, some associate temperance with eating and drinking, but this was not Franklin's intention. "Temperance first, as it tends to procure that coolness and clearness of head, which is so necessary where constant vigilance was to be kept up, and guard maintained against the unremitting attraction of ancient .....

Incest
Words: 1341 - Pages: 5.... that is sexually arousing between non-married members of a family."
(Justice, pg 25) What this is interpreted as is that sexual intercourse does not
need to occur for a situation to be considered incestuous. Stroking, fondling,
or even intimately kissing can be considered incest. This is not all true for
the law's definition. In Georgia, incest is defined as any sexual intercourse
between known relatives, by blood or by marriage, (meaning a step-parent and
step-child.) Incest laws basically exist to prohibit marriage or inbreeding
between family members, and the sentences are almost never carried out. (Kosof,
pg 53) So incest i .....

Definition Essay Of Multiculturalism
Words: 491 - Pages: 2.... reason and independent judgment, multiculturalism demands obedience to one‘s ethnic group. The purpose of a university is not to be a representative of society but to help develop knowledge and reason. How can multiculturalists say that this is fair to society? A just society is a society that lets one determine his or her beliefs and doesn‘t try to influence them one way or another. Society by definition means people as a whole not as individual groups. “As more and more people begin to regard loyalty to group as more important than loyalty to country, we get a chilling preview of what the United States might be like if each .....

Gatsby also brags and over exaggerates when a person asks him where he got his education from and his money. From this he gives a person a length full excuse just to impress who ever it is. Here is an example of Gatsby over talking a subject. “I am the son of some wealthy people in the middle-west--- all dead now. I was brought up in America but educated at Oxford because all my ancestors have been educated there for many years. It ‘s been a family tradition”(pg.69). After he says this to Nick .....

Family Values
Words: 887 - Pages: 4.... family values. Now that I am an adult my parents are persistent to spend
time with me and teach me values not taught to me when I was a child. I believe
it's like teaching an old dog new tricks. A child needs direction from the
childhood up to adulthood not the reverse. I recall coming home from school to
an empty house. My parents were working to provide us with a home, things we
needed and wanted. Regardless, as a child a family was just as important. A
popular soul singer, Luther Vandross, sang a song whose lyrics explained about
objects in a house that were still the same, but a house was not a home if there
wasn't anyone .....

But there are misconceptions some belive that the law restricts the normal social activities between men and women at work but hat is not the law. It only includes the unwanted sexual conduct that in no way is social at the work place. (Pertocelli & Repa ½)
Some fear of people is that they can’t compliment of ask someone out on a date. The law says nothing about dating in the workplace if it is done in a reasonable and respectful manner with employee’s wishes. Dating in the workplace is not against the law if both people accept it.
Something else that is misleading people think that all is welcome as long as there is no physica .....

Race Relations In The United States
Words: 1289 - Pages: 5.... odd for Clinton to
call for racial healing. “For now, no cities are burning. No divisive
events like the O.J. Simpson trial are preoccupying Americans. Among
African-Americans overall, income, life expectancy and employment have been
rising.” A Gallup poll released in early June showed that 74% of the
black respondents said they were satisfied with the way things were going
in their personal lives and also with their standard of living. Among
whites, levels of acceptance and tolerance are unprecedented. For example,
93% of whites, a higher percentage than of blacks, said they were willing

Welfare: Toil And Trouble
Words: 824 - Pages: 3.... while
they look for a job, they are sitting at home waiting by the mailbox for the
next check to come in. In the meantime, many mothers are having more kids,
because-more kids, more welfare money. These women relish the thought of
getting free money in the mail-for doing absolutely nothing.
Welfare is destroying out culture. Many argue that welfare is necessary
for many families, and that it must not be cut. Some argue that it is giving
starving families the boost they need to make it one more year. This is only
partially true. Yes, we need welfare, but we also need to limit the amount of
time a family can stay on it. By letting fam .....
