The American Dream
Words: 1530 - Pages: 6.... basically have us on our knees. We must digest advertisers= views so frequently that you would think it was necessary to sustain life.
Advertising=s main goal is to persuade. They want us to see the American way through their eyes. They tell us what to eat, drink, wear, drive, and think. Advertisers start this form of brainwashing on us at a very early age. They lay the groundwork of ideals early on because it is easy to persuade a child. Now, with the two income family, children are left to interpret not only advertisements but television programming as well without supervision. Children are forced to make their own evaluations an .....

Violence By Children
Words: 308 - Pages: 2.... like the movie.
A way to stop this dilemma is for the parents to explain to their children that violence is not the key to the solution. If their children have problems to solve in a differnt manner. Another way to solve violence in our society is to stop letting them watch violent movies and television shows. That would reduce the corrupting of the young minds, since kids feed on what they see now a days .
Many children will continue to commit these violent acts if the parents or themselves don't put the stop to the violence from the begining. If it is not dealt with it will just happen over and over again. The crime will continue to occur .....

Instore Help?
Words: 897 - Pages: 4.... the past couple of months I have been coping with an algae problem, in my home aquarium, known as greenwater. This is caused by too much light and too much organic matter on which the algae feed. It is not a threat to the fish but turns the water to a cloudy greenish haze in its first stages. Eventually it leads to a near total ‘green out’ of the aquarium obscuring even the fish. Although I had an idea as to how I might deal with this problem I decided to ask at the local fish store to see if some breakthrough product or method has been developed since my stint in the business. This yielded absolutely nothing.
I was able to find no o .....

Mass Media, Sex, And Pornography
Words: 2705 - Pages: 10.... forms of mass media, specifically movies and
television programs containing pornography and violence have been heavily
criticized. The underlining concept to be debated here is that society is
negatively influenced, specifically, by these images of pornography and
the result is increased violence against women. This assumption, and it is
indeed only an assumption, is completely fallacious, however, as no
concrete and completely conclusive evidence has ever been formulated in
support of the theory. The key premise here is that the mass media does
not cause undesirable social behaviour and in actuality, the media people
should not be dubbe .....

Welfare Reform
Words: 738 - Pages: 3.... there is revolutionary change in basic goals set by the federal government. Second, a dramatic change turning what used to be a federal, centralized system over to the states. At this point welfare rules require most recipients to work within two years of receiving assistance, limit most assistance to five years total, and let states establish family duration by denying additional benefits to mothers for children born while the mothers are already on public assistance.
Traditionally the federal government set eligibility guidelines on a national basis, then handed out money to the states to fund specific programs. But now, the f .....

Homosexual Marriages
Words: 335 - Pages: 2.... Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
Another passage of Scripture that talks about homosexuality is in Genesis chapter 19. This chapter is the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. God could not find but one righteous man in the whole city and He destroyed that city because it was full of wickedness and homosexuals. We as Christians have to take a stand against homosexuality before God destroys our country, too.
Homosexuality is not the only thing in this country that isn’t Biblical. Abortion is also against Biblical and Godly values. Exodus chapter 20 and verse 13 plainly says “Thou shalt not kill.” Abortion is killing a baby. It is taking a li .....

What If The World Had Only Two Faces?
Words: 611 - Pages: 3.... of each individual that forms the bond of love. That would most probably eliminate jealousy in the world and would make today’s world more peaceful. Love can have its good times and its bad. The bad moments in a relationship would cause an increase in frustration. When a couple has an argument, all they would see in the world would be their spouses’ face. That can have a negative impact on people and it may cause them to become furious and possibly violent.
Seeing the same individual over and over again would probably cause the mind to become bored. That would be plain and simply tedious. Not only would each person be “bor .....

Inequality Of The Sexes
Words: 780 - Pages: 3.... Look no further than the home to see the first sign that men and
women are not equal. The traditional role of the man was to work and the
money he made would be used by all in the household. The traditional role
of the woman was to stay home, take care of the children, clean the house,
and cook. Because society has always associated money with power, the
person bringing home the money had the power. The man often makes the f
inal decision on all household matters because he has the money.
The workplace is another place where men and women are not equal.
The most obvious sign starts at the top. Look at CEOs of corporation; the

Hardships That Children Face
Words: 929 - Pages: 4.... esteem.
The first thing that must be understood is that any child at a young age does two things. The first that a child does is learn. Now this can be good things, but the same child can and will pick up the bad things. This is a huge injustice because the child is basically being programmed before he or she has the chance to make up his or her mind. Hate can become acceptable in many forms such as bigotry, racism, or sexism. By the words and actions of a parent the child can be abused, which will in turn lead to the second thing that a child does and that is grow. As the child learns from the parents he or she also matures into a lik .....
