Down With Community Service
Words: 464 - Pages: 2.... one of the
reasons that supports my disagreement to the article.
Most young people do not have enough extra time to do community
service. I have been doing a survey about the subject matter for a few
days, and I have come up with some interesting results. It seems that
eight out of ten students that are about to graduate high school are
planning to go to college after they graduate. I also asked them about
doing community service. Most of them said that they would be getting a
job, and they would not have time to do community service. My survey has
brought me to the conclusion that students who are thinking about going to
college sho .....

He says "I'll begin on the salmon, why don't you begin on the sauce."
Mrs. Smith gets the best silver cutlery, lays the table and finds
the finest table cloth in the house. What they didn't see was the cat who
crawled under the table. When they are finished Mr. Smith says "I'll go
and change to a suit and you can maybe take on a long dress and your finest
jewellery you have".
At last the chief and his wife are here and Mrs. Fowler has flowers

Personal Writing: The Pond
Words: 454 - Pages: 2.... We stopped and starred in awe. The lake had appeared
so shiny and reflective, it resembled a finely-cut diamond. The rare and
distinct fragrance enticed us. It smelled like mother-nature herself, with
aromas ranging from wildlife and wet grass, to evaporated swamp water and
healthy dirt.
Then, the time for us to find the desired vessel arrived. We chose
the kayaks, and set out for the water. Carefully, with our torn-jeans
rolled up, and shirts off, we dragged the massive thing over the slope of
grass and mud into the shallow stream. We then hopped aboard, grabbed the
paddles, and floated and splashed into nowhere. The wavy current s .....

Creative Writing: Hephaestus And Aphrodite - The Dispute
Words: 1187 - Pages: 5.... putting
on for all the gods to see; however, it was not easy.
After several hours of waiting, Aphrodite finally came home—and
Hephaestus was there waiting for her. It was now dark, so she fumbled through
the room to find a light. One was turned on before she could come across one.
It startled her so! She whipped around toward the direction of the source of
the light, only to find Hephaestus sitting in his favorite easy chair, a glass
of red wine in one hand and a grape bushel in the other. He had the most
peculiar grin on his face.
"How was your day, dearest?" he asked his wife charmingly. "Did you
enjoy yourself?"
"Why, yes, thank .....

plants and lizards. That was fun for awhile till it got tough and then we
started to head back.
On the other island Barbados they had the best beaches you could imagine.
The water was so clear and the sand was so white and soft it felt like a
pillow. We went swimming over there for about 2 hours. While we were there
you could see the bottom at least 30 feet deep. There were no rocks to cut
you at all it was just like the sand on the beach. It was lots of fun.
When we got tired we went back to the ship and got cleaned up for dinner.
Our next island was St. Martinique. This island was were we got to go up a
big .....

Personal Writing: Son's Trip To The Emergency Room
Words: 1013 - Pages: 4.... I turned around just in time to see the jar fall from his hands and watched as he fell to the floor almost in slow motion. I jumped to my feet and scooped him off the floor when I noticed there was blood streaming from his wrist area down his arm. My heart sank as I searched for the open wound. My first thought was that he cut a vein in his wrist and panic raced through my body with the fear that he would bleed to death before I could get him to the hospital. As quickly as I could, I grabbed him from the floor and ran to the bathroom to get a towel and wrapped it around his wrist. I flew out the door and down the street to a neigh .....

Personal Writing: The Day Of Doom

down into a sand pit on the way to my friends girlfriends house. Taking
turns doing donuts with his car in the sand we passed away about an hour.
I needed even more of a rush so I hoped on top of the car, held onto the
roof, and told my friend to take off. After exiting the sand pit we flew
off down the piper pond road going about 70. My eyes and face were getting
wind burnt so I tapped on the wind sheild for him to slow down. After
coming to a stop I told him he had to try it so again we sped off but this
time he was the one flapping in the wind. When we pulled into his
girlfriends house he jumped off the car la .....

Creative Writing: My Summer Off
Words: 1528 - Pages: 6.... me they felt I should go to summer school. I was opposed to the concept
of summer school right up to the moment I was issued the dictum “go to school or
get a job”, at which point I became the world's greatest advocate of off-season
learning. Besides, I was only fifteen and the workplace just wasn't ready for
me. So I thumbed through the course book, singing a chorus of no's until I
arrived on the Debate and Public Speaking page. There resided a large
photograph of a boy confidently standing behind an ornate podium, clearly frozen
in the middle of some captivating and influential argument. I read the passage
describing the .....

Personal Writing: My Dog Oso
Words: 660 - Pages: 3.... summer had no meaning to me, all I knew was hot and cold, dirt or snow. I know I was young, as this is the first day of my life I truly remember. I was playing about our yard when my older brother Jake slowly walked up to me. He had been supplied with money, and then instructed by my mother to take me to the corner store to buy candy and ice cream. At that time I was delighted, as the trip to the corner store was an epic journey, which I had never taken on foot, only by car. I did not notice or care that Jake, normally tyrannical, dictatorial, and abusive, was being unusually nice to me that day
Well, after the saga of the corner stor .....

A Day At The Beach
Words: 371 - Pages: 2.... still white hot. I pull
my courage from the corners of my being and make a run for it. This isn't so
bad if I run really fast. The wind blows in my face, bringing with it that
smell, almost a taste of the ocean. It seems to be a combination of fish, salt,
people, and water all mixed into one. I continue to run until I reach the
water's edge where the waves crash upon the beach, making the white sand brown
and hard. I sit down on the sand, panting after my enormous effort. Something
troubling pulls at the edge of my mind, but I ignore it. A wave rolls up to
the beach, crashing around me, wetting me hot body. I dig my body into .....
