to Everett, Massachusetts in nineteen twenty-eight. They lived several
years in this suburb of Boston, until they were able to move to Haverhill

when he was sent home because he could not ask to go to the bathroom in
English. As he slowly learned the new culture he began to become more .....

Advice I Often Receive From Parents
Words: 351 - Pages: 2.... The problem with saying "as long as you do you best" is that when I know
I could have done a better job, I have a sort of guilty feeling. I hate it
when I get a mediocre mark or fail in something and my parents say "as long
as you tried your hardest." It gets quite annoying when I second guess
myself about what I could have done. However, when I know I did the work
as well as I could and it isn't a good mark, I don't worry about it as much
as some people might.
In conclusion, the piece of advice that I receive most often from my
parents is basically a good one, and often it keeps me motivated in the
things I do. It also shows me that .....

The Rain
Words: 1201 - Pages: 5.... out all other sound. You can no longer hear the sound of the engine, the heartbeat of the metal steed that has carried us this far and will carry us many more miles. The beat of the music is no longer distinguishable as beats out it's own tune on the glass of the windows and the metal of the car. Visibility is reduced to almost the end of our noses as the water sluices down the windows. Moving the car ever so cautiously, my father pulls into a truck stop to wait out . Making a mad dash through the small rivers that are forming in the parking lot, we all pile out of the car and into the cool sanctuary of the diner. We are allowed to order .....

Why I Hate The Mall
Words: 1098 - Pages: 4.... ya what's wrong with this country", I finally get to my destination.
As soon as I got there, I began to think about how sad it is that the
mall has very much become a part of American life. The Chinese have their rice,
we have our malls. Does anyone else see a problem with having over one-thousand
of these gaudy monstrosities across the country? Despite the fact that the era
of eighties-decadence has passed, the malls keep coming, and they keep getting
bigger. It's like something out of an Ed Wood flick.
I remember reading an article about how bad it's gotten. The largest
mall in America has 425 retail shops, 4.2 million square .....

Interview With A UFO

they zapped that poor ol' cow up to their hunk of metal spacecraft. I told
`em they better put her back or I was gonna call the UFO sightings hotline
on them like I did on all of their friends. I said " I know about all of
your tests you run on them poor animals like Bessie cause I've been
watchin' the X-Files on my big 10 inch black and white TV." Then they
started gibbering back and forth again and I'll be dang if they didn't zap
my old John Deere up on that ship too. That's when I got really mad. I
think they understood English too cause when I told .....

He said he had better get going, but Mrs. Jones objected saying "You stay right here until the storm clears." He said he couldn't possibly impose himself. He then turned back to the memory or him walking across that cold muddy field. He shuddered. Mrs. Jones broke into his thoughts and said he could walk to the neighbors the next morning, she said "They only live a few miles down the road and Bob can drive you." Personal Writing: Response To My Visit To The Boott Cotton Mill
Words: 998 - Pages: 4.... plant. The entrance had hardwood floors and was quite modern.
From there I went to the entrance of the Weave Room. The most interesting
part of this exhibit was the pictures and quotations located outside the
Weave Room. Throughout the building, all the pictures with people in them,
nobody had a smile on their face. That solidified the impression I had that
people weren't happy working in the mills.
The quotations from former mill workers also exhibited their
unhappiness. Grace May Burk, a former mill worker said, βWork started at
6:30 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays work ended at noon. We got
Saturday afterno .....

Personal Writing: My First Murder
Words: 899 - Pages: 4.... may not change your feelings any, but at least let me explain that I
did not kill any human being. The life which I took belonged to a squirrel,
and squirrel was in season. some would call it a rodent, too stupid to get
out of the path of their Goodyears. On the other hand, I as well as many
others would call the squirrel and most other animals a dignified and noble
creature. Anyway, the life was a squirrel's and the weapon was a Crossman
pellet rifle. The weapon was a Christmas present, the squirrel was not
included.
Upon reaching my grandparents' farm for Christmas dinner (lunch for
those of you not raised in the country), I set out aft .....
