Failure Of Gun Control Laws
Words: 1633 - Pages: 6.... To fully understand the reasons behind the gun control
efforts, we must look at the history of our country, and the role
firearms have played in it. The second amendment to the Constitution
of the United States makes firearm ownership legal in this country.
There were good reasons for this freedom, reasons which persist today.
Firearms in the new world were used initially for hunting, and
occasionally for self-defense. However, when the colonists felt that
the burden of British oppression was too much for them to bear, they
picked up their personal fi .....

Jury Nullification And Its Effects On Black America
Words: 3832 - Pages: 14.... least disparity, is obvious. Even whites
are forced to admit that statistics indicate that the Black community is
disproportionately affected by the American legal system. Controversy arises
when the issue of possible causes of, and also solutions to, these variations
are discussed.
Although numerous articles and books have been published devising means
by which to reduce variance within the system, the most recent, and probably
most contentious, is that of Paul Butler, Associate Professor of Law, George
Washington University Law School, and former Special Assistant United States
Attorney in the District of Columbia. Butler's thesis, pu .....

each.
Burglary is the break-in and entering of a home or other building
with the intent of carrying out a felony. An example of this would be
when a person breaks into your house and steals money or possessions from
you. Robbery is when the perpetrator takes personal property from another
against their will while threatening to do bodily harm or damage. An
example of this would be when a bank robber holds up a bank and orders the
tellers to hand over money to them while holding a gun in their hand. The
robber is threatening to harm the workers while steeling the money.

Juvenile Crime
Words: 519 - Pages: 2.... criminals have been abused or neglected and they also
grew up in a single-parent household. Research has found that 53% of these
children are more likely to be arrested, and 38% more likely to commit a violent
crime as an adult, then their counterparts who did not suffer such abuse. The
symptoms of child abuse are “high levels of aggression and antisocial behavior”
and these children are twice as likely to become juvenile offenders. Also
improper parental care has been linked to delinquency such as mothers who drink
alcohol or take drugs during pregnancy cause their babies to grow up with
learning disorders, a problem which leads th .....

Capital Punishment
Words: 898 - Pages: 4.... row. Fifty to sixty percent of inmates are now executed each year, most after having served ten years on death row (Senna and Sigel 430). While inmates are on death row most will appeal the courts, which taxpayers also pay for. Inmates have their lawyer paid for the first time he or she appeals the court, after that it is up to the inmate to pay for his or her own lawyer. Now, after exhausting state appeals, most prisoners are allowed only one appeal in the federal courts (Regoli and Hewitt 544). I think if the inmate wants to appeal his or her case they should have to pay for it from the beginning. Society has to pay enough money as it is .....

drugs like Heroin, Crystal Methamphetamine, and Cocaine."
I recently visited the neighbor city of Tijuana and rode in a Tijuana
taxi and was immediately met with a taxi driver named Jose, a Tijuana taxi
driver in an open-necked, baby blue silk shirt, he sizes up the tourists
trudging off the footbridge from the United States. “Taxi, sir? You want

beckoning taxi drivers in big belts and straw cowboy hats. “Good prices! No
prescriptions!” Do I look like I want drugs?! I di .....

Senseless Lawsuits
Words: 546 - Pages: 2.... liable for their deaths civilly? Whether or not he did do the crime the fact remains in the eyes of the law he was found innocent and therefore should not be able to be held accountable for their wrongful deaths. What was amazing about the case is the amount of money that was awarded to the families when they stated it wasn’t about the money. If it wasn’t about the money then why did they bother with the suit in the first place if he was found not guilty of their murders? To me it seems that it was about the money and not who killed their children, if that was the case they would work with OJ to find out who the real killers are.
