Words: 1162 - Pages: 5.... serve to show the many complex facets of Lear's complex
personality, as they force him to finally get in touch with his self-conscious.
For example, the Fool, oddly enough, acts as the voice of reason for the
out-of -touch King. He views events critically and thus seems to foreshadow
situations that an ignorant Lear is completely oblivious to. This is evident in
act 1, scene 1, when a prodding Fool asks the king if he knows the difference

Words: 810 - Pages: 3.... Blanche’s critical comments of her sisters house makes the reader feel less sympathy for her early in the play. As Blanche greets her sister later, one of the first statements she makes is “Open your pretty mouth and talk while I look for some liquor!” This illustrates how insensitive and demandfull Blanche can be at times. Lucas shows that everyone will be the same. People will wear the same
clothes and have the same haircut. Names are no longer a part .....

comedy also follows this pattern and becomes more adult oriented, such as HBO's
