Movie: Dead Poet's Society - The Dead Poet That Killed Himself
Words: 361 - Pages: 2.... classroom. One really begins to understand math when taught by route
memorization and physical punishment for incorrect answers. Anyone who has been
"rapped on the knuckles" by a nun with a ruler can attest to this fact.
The one thing that a student needs in life is structure. Without this,
he or she cannot function in a school environment. When a bell rings, you must
go to class. When a teacher assigns homework, you do it. No questions asked. No
individual thought. The only marrow that should be sucked out of a students life

no other reason.
In the end, it sho .....

The Crucible: Reverend John Hale - A Dynamic Character
Words: 438 - Pages: 2.... Hales views on witchery. Another example of Hale's
character and his savings of witches is when he said, “Now Tituba, I know that
when we bind ourselves to Hell it is very hard to break with it. We are going
to help you tear yourself free-”
The point when Reverend Hale begins to change is in Act III during the
trial of John Proctor. “I am a minister of the lord, and I dare not take a life
without there be a proof so immaculate no slightest qualm of conscience may
doubt it.” He starts to doubt if the very thing that he searches to rid the
people of might be a lie.
Let you not mistake your duty as I mistook my own...where .....

Othello The "Mad" Moor
Words: 521 - Pages: 2.... me;
/Still questioned me the story of my life/From year to year- the battles
sieges, fortunes/That I have passed.”(I, iii, 128-131) The numerous battles
and the hardships of war wear a man down. The stresses of everyday things
at work get to us but the stresses of battle must be and uncountable times
worse. Othello seemed to be and was mentioned as a good leader with the
respect of the Duke. The stresses of being a black man leading an army of
white soldiers that might respect you as a leader but might not respect you
as a human would affect you also.
Othello seemed to handle the stresses of war just fine but with the

Hamlet: Feigned Madness
Words: 727 - Pages: 3.... complete loss of reason, not sane, then Hamlet’s spoken thoughts alone prove him to be sane. By his own words, Hamlet is feigning, and it is that his pretend madness is never assumed except in the presence of the king or those whom he considers the king’s agents (Hankins 127). The train of events from the death of his father to the revelation of the ghost has profoundly disturbed Hamlet. He realizes it himself and fears that the excitement within him may betray his secret. He knows well that it is beyond his power to suppress it altogether, and so he pretends to be mad. Any slip of the tongue about his secrets will seem like the u .....

Dorine, Her Voice Of Reason And How She Is Able To Save The Family From Their Demise
Words: 1217 - Pages: 5.... in scene one states "Girl, you talk too much, and I'm afraid you're far too saucy for a lady's maid. You push in everywhere"(21). From the start it is apparent that Dorine is an outspoken character, and by doing this she is clearly putting herself out on a limb because she is dissimilar to the other women of her time. I believe that it is here that Moliere foreshadows the importance of Dorine's a character. Later on in the play she will play a crucial role in saving Mariane, her counterpart, from marrying Tartuffe, and ultimately saving Orgon's family by bringing about plans to reveal Tartuffe's manipulative and deceitful character. I .....
