Genetic Cloning
Words: 1303 - Pages: 5.... the name of Dolly. Dolly was cloned from an adult sheep; using donor DNA and mammary cells from a female sheep cloned it. The process is very technical and I don’t fully understand it myself. From what I have researched I have come to understand that currently cloning is very “Hit or Miss”(Hawley). From 277 attempts, Dolly was the only successful attempt. The point is however that we now have a man created sheep, what else could be done in the near future.
There are many different goals for . Would you like to clone someone close to you who had died? In the movie “Gattaca” you get a peak at something that could be made possi .....

Lasers 4
Words: 757 - Pages: 3.... the light is of a single frequency that statement would also be true. A laser is useful because it produces light that is not only of essentially a single frequency but also coherent, with the light waves all moving along in unison.
Lasers consist of several components. A few of the many things that the so-called active medium might consist of are, atoms of a gas, molecules in a liquid, and ions in a crystal. Another component consists of some method of introducing energy into the active medium, such as a flash lamp for example. Another component is the pair of mirrors on either side of the active medium which consists of one that transmit .....

Scenes Of Nature
Words: 260 - Pages: 1.... can form many different and interesting shapes.
At night the sky becomes enchanting and glorious. When the stars are out
the sky is undeniably exquisite. The skys deep shades range from blue at
dawn to deep oranges and purple at dusk. The sky scenes are genuinely
picturesque.
The forest changes it scenery in seasons instead of day and night
like the sky. In the summer the forest is filled with majestic shades of
green. The fall brings colorful shades of oranges, reds, and yellows. The
winter deprives the forest of its colorful splendor, but brings a different
type of beauty all together. In the spring all of the green magnifice .....

Bipolar Disorder 3
Words: 792 - Pages: 3.... from person to person and most individuals experience "normal" periods between their manic and depressive episodes.
Manic depression can send a person plunging from a high state, where one may believe one has superhuman energy and abilities, into a pit of despair, where it may seem as if the only way out is suicide.
There are two types of bipolar, bipolar 1 and bipolar 2. Bipolar 1 is diagnosed differently than bipolar 2. Bipolar I is diagnosed when person has a manic episode and has had no depressive episodes in the past. However, after the first manic episode occurs, depressive episodes often follow. Most people (over 90%) with Bipolar .....

Genetic Cloning
Words: 1925 - Pages: 7.... the identity of ‘clones’, enhanced cell growth products and production of spare body parts.
Firstly, selective breeding throughout the ages has served humanity in many ways. The origins of cloning lie in the agricultural history of humanity. Therefore the perceived gap between cloning and our nature are not so distant, as cloning has been the means by which humankind has cultivated flora for a millennia. In addition, selective breeding has been the means by which humankind has manipulated fauna for its own ends. In both cases genetic manipulation does serve humanity on many practical levels.
Secondly, humankind has genetically en .....

Energy Flow Systems
Words: 1419 - Pages: 6.... river is energy. The Columbia River works as
gravity pulls it to the Pacific Ocean. The Columbia is continuously cutting
into the terrain that it flows through. Over millions of years water rushed
through the Columbia Basin to form the Columbia River. Water carries soil, silt,
and debris downstream. The constant movement of material in the river cuts and
shapes the river basin into the land. This movement is a slow and inefficient
use of energy. According to White, only two percent of water's potential energy
results in the work of erosion. The other ninety-eight percent of water's energy
was lost as water molecules rub against themse .....

El Nino
Words: 380 - Pages: 2.... the warmer, surface zone and the colder deep water zone, in a
thermally stratied body of water, in which the temperature decreases
rapidly with depth.
This depression of the thermocline has great effects on the worlds fishing
industry. The cutting of nutrient rich therocline water reduces the growth
of algae, which in trun, collapses the food chain. Thus, leaving our
worlds subsistence and commercial fishermen with out food and money.
With the already descendeing food chain on our earth, the warming water
also effects the atmosphere, resulting in more extreme temperatures, more
rain, and more drought periods, costing more money to .....

Alternative Fuels (fuel Cells)
Words: 1185 - Pages: 5.... Ballard and a small team of physicists were able to develop the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) to produce nearly ten times as much energy, while being only a fraction of the size.
How the PEM Fuel Cell Works:
A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that produces electricity silently, without combustion. Hydrogen fuel, which is one of the most abundant chemicals in the universe, and oxygen from the air are electrochemically combined in the fuel cell to produce electricity. Heat and pure water vapour are the only by-products of the fuel cell.
The Ballard Fuel Cell is made up of two electrodes, the anode and the cathode, separated by a p .....

There are three accepted types of , clairvoyance, precognition, and telepathy. Clairvoyance is the extra sensory perception of events that are taking place at the exact time of the perception, but the sensor cannot know of these events through any of the five senses. Precognition is the extra sensory perception of events in the future. And finally, telepathy is the extra sensory perception of someone elses mental stat .....

History Of Computers
Words: 1146 - Pages: 5.... ancient Greek and Roman times. It is still used in many parts of the world.
The abacus consists of beads strung on rows of wires suspended within a rectangular frame. A common form has a piece of wood dividing the beads, with five beads on one side, and two on the other side of the wood on each wire.
Calculating Machines and their Inventors:
Through the centuries, several mathematical geniuses invented machinesto aid them in their calculations. The machines were never widely used and generally had no direct path to the later development of electronic computers. Example:
Pascal:
Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) a French matematicia .....
