Technetium
Words: 407 - Pages: 2.... matter is leading to new theories of the production of heavy
elements in the stars. Nineteen isotopes of technetium, with atomic masses
ranging from 90 to 108, are known. 97Tc has a half-life of 2.6 x 10^6 years.
98Tc has a half-life of 4.2 x 10^6 years. The isomeric isotope 95mTc, with a
half-life of 61 days, is useful for tracer work, as it produces energetic
gamma rays. Technetium metal has been produced in kilogram quantities. The metal
was first prepared by passing hydrogen gas at 1100C over Tc2S7. It is now
conveniently prepared by the reduction of ammonium pertechnetate with hydrogen.
Techne tium is a silvery-gray metal that ta .....

Cloning 6
Words: 487 - Pages: 2.... is not the only plus to cloning.
Furthermore, the research of cloning has helped scientists become aware of the way genes operate. With continuous research into the ways of cloning scientists could come to understand the ways cells and genes work. As the information grows we will be able to get rid of genetic diseases and defects. “As geneticists have come to understand the ways in which genes operate, they have also become aware of the myriad ways in which the environment affects their ‘expression.’” In the future people will be able to decide what their child will look like and what kind of base intelligence the child will h .....

Hypothermia

A person can be exposed to when they are in cold weather and improperly dressed or submerged in cool water for a long period of time. There are even reported cases of elderly people dying of in their homes do to the non-efficient heating system. Over 50% of deaths in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia are related to alcohol and drug intoxication.(Seluge,1) can also occur when a person has illnesses or health problems such as heart circulatory, or thyroid diseases; diabetes, arthritis, and other conditions that prohibit mobility. Having these conditions can interfer .....

Mistakes People Make With Steroids
Words: 1176 - Pages: 5.... of time. Steroids allow its users to recover more quickly from exercise than a natural athlete, so they can return to the gym sooner for another workout. So that means less work equals more muscle gain, compared to working out normally with no supplement. Who wouldn’t want that? Think about all the pain you wouldn’t have to go through doing all those reps. With a performance enhancing drug, you could do even less, get the same results and even better.
Today more than ever, performance enhancing drugs and supplements are being abused. It is estimated that 99% of all professional bodybuilders are using steroids, or some typ .....

Introduction To Evolution
Words: 3618 - Pages: 14.... Evolution
apparently has no built-in direction purpose. A given kind of organism may
evolve only when it occurs in a variety of forms differing in hereditary traits,
that are passed from parent to offspring. By chance, some varieties prove to be
ill adapted to their current environment and thus disappear, whereas others
prove to be adaptive, and their numbers increase. The elimination of the unfit,
or the "survival of the fittest," is known as Natural Selection because it is
nature that discards or favors a particular being. Evolution takes place only
when natural selection operates on apopulation of organisms containing diverse
inheritable .....

Atention Defficit Disorder
Words: 1395 - Pages: 6.... the topic is interesting to them. People with Attention Deficit Disorder usually do this while watching TV, playing Nintendo, and at sporting events. Many ADD children will tell you how annoying it is when someone around them is talking.
People with ADD are impulsive meaning to act without thinking. In one case a five-year old with ADD almost drowned when he went to a pool with his father. He saw people jumping into the pool and thought it would be fun. He jumped right in without remembering that he can't swim. He was pulled from the bottom of the pool several minutes later.
Hyperactivity is a real problem for people with ADD espec .....

Greenhouse Effect
Words: 967 - Pages: 4.... 1992). Ways must be found to lessen the threat of this growing crisis. If this effect were to continue and grow, the earth’s population would be exposed to serious threats. Carbon dioxide is essential for plants who use it for photosynthesis, yet too much can lead to serious threats. The problem lies in the disruption of the balance between how much carbon dioxide plants intake, and what our population produces. If this natural filtering process is unbalanced, the atmosphere will receive too much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Once these gases form in the atmosphere, they act as barriers trapping in heat and warming t .....

Fire Ants
Words: 2119 - Pages: 8.... quarter inch.
Black fire ants arrived first followed shortly by the infamous imported red
fire ants. Black ants (Solenopsis Richteri Forel) were the first to arrive and
spread slowly but steadily despite government intervention to stop them from
spreading(3. Lockley 33). These black ants would spread much further then the
second wave of imported ants recognized as Solenopsis Invicta Buren or red
fire ants(4. Lockley 33). This second wave of ants arrived in about 1945 and
spread much more rapidly and dominated the previous more passive black ant(5.
Lockley 34). Homer Collins, a fire ant expert, stated that "The new invader,

The Creation Of The Universe
Words: 1817 - Pages: 7.... it is difficult to fathom that they are
all the same divine being. It is also plausible that we just have a desire
to quench the thirst for knowledge that lies deep within ourselves. As for
myself, I cannot believe in a being which created a universe and a
multitude of worlds in a rather short period of time then deigns to lower
itself into becoming a puppet-master and "pulling the strings" of the Earth
and all of the people therein.
Since this paper touches upon many scientific terms, I feel that in
order for the reader to correctly grasp the content I must first define
three words: Theory, Law, and Hypothesis. The definitions .....
