Irrigating Crops With Seawater
Words: 849 - Pages: 4.... crops have been tested such as barley and the date palm. The writers of this article however have been testing halophytes, which, is a salt-tolerant plant that can be used for food, forage and oilseed crops. They first gathered several hundred halophytes and began testing these plants in the desert of Puerto Peñasco. They irrigated the plants daily by flooding the fields with seawater from the Gulf of California. The best halophytes produced roughly the yield of alfalfa using freshwater irrigation. In order to show that these halophytes could replace other crops for use they tested to see if the crops could feed livestock. The hal .....

Biology, The Five Major Compounds
Words: 1150 - Pages: 5.... energy source that keeps us going between meals. Small amounts of carbohydrates are also used for structural purposes and others are attached to outer surfaces of cell membranes to guide cellular interactions. For many cells, sugars are the most important source of energy.
Lipids are important because they function as structural components of cell membranes, sources of insulation, and a mean of energy storage. The lipid molecules are most well known as forming basic structures of cell membranes and as energy storage molecules as well. In this group of lipids, there are about three main types: true fats (triglycerides), phosph .....

Electronics- Logic Probe
Words: 428 - Pages: 2.... of the input. Therefore, if the input is HIGH, the output of the 555 IC, which is pin 3, goes LOW. This in turn activates and lights the top LED (the HIGH indicator).
Logic probes derive their operating power from the PCB under test. Care should be taken in attaching the clips to safe voltages; you may want to first use a Volt Meter (Digital Multi Meter) to verify the hook up points have good voltages. The four diodes protect the IC from reverse polarity. Capacitor C1 prevents transient voltage from affecting the logic probe when the black lead is not connected. Pin 5 of the 555 IC is grounded through resistor R1. The logic probe will indica .....

The bell was the conditioned stimulus. A conditioned stimulus was an originally neutral stimulus that could eventually produce a desired response when presented alone. Directly after the ringing of the bell, Pavlov gave the dog food. The food was the unconditioned stimulus. This means that the food caused an uncontrollable response whenever it was present .....
