around the feared whirlpool of depression, which at any given time can pull
me under and swallow me alive.
While in the river, which I call life, I have to be in control at all
times; I must quickly steer and paddle away from the massive rocks and
devouring waves. When travelling along a rough river, it is essential that
the rafter be a quick thinker, and only the experienced rafter can outwit
the many perils that lie ahead.
Sure, I am apt to make mistakes, I can only imagine how many times waves
have knocked my raft over while learning; I can only imagine how many rocks
my raft has crashed into when I did not recieve a .....

Personal Writing: The Cliff
Words: 486 - Pages: 2.... of us so the needle written branches of the pine trees didn't smack
us in the face. After a few grueling minutes the trees thinned out to
expose the edge of a 100-foot drop off. I could see to the other side of
the river.
We've decided to lay our sleeping bags down on the edge of the cliff,
it seemed to be the most level surface and the best view. As we looked up
we could see the stars, thousands and thousands of them. The distinctive
Milky Way right over had looked like a highway of stars stuck in rush-hour
I shined my flashing over the edge down toward the river bed but my light

Can you guys hear me in the back?" He gurgled in his natural grotesque voice.
With the acknowledgment of the audience, he sipped the glass of ice water which
stood on the podium and cleared his throat. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here
to inform you of a discovery that my team of genetic scientist and I have
discovered." The more he said the more I wanted to hear. I wanted to shout to
make him blurt it out, but it was impossible to speed him up, attention was the
reason why he became a scientist. He didn't care about the effects of his
discoveries, as long as he packed the ex .....

Personal Reflections
Words: 2546 - Pages: 10.... small crystal Easter egg that he gave to me one Easter. It is a symbol of his love, and my valuing it. Mostly, he showed his love through things and outings to plays and musical recitals. Those times were sometimes fun sometimes tedious. But today, I have come to enjoy these types of cultural events. They have helped to shape who I am today.
How do you grieve someone you hardly knew, but who is supposed to mean so much?? I have postponed the grief some what through alcohol and drug use and avoidance. He did mean something to me because when we came home from school, in seventh grade, that day in January, I was shocked when Mom declared, "yo .....

The Immortal Harley Rider
Words: 1219 - Pages: 5.... world of helpless fear. At the bottom of the hill a black Ford Fairlane was turning left into my unstoppable path. “Oh shit!†I exclaimed loudly. My five-hundred-pound metal stallion lunged relentlessly toward disaster, even though my right boot stomped hard on the rear brake. The bike fishtailed back and forth as I sought a path around the car – I first veered toward the ditch and then to the opposing lane, but a station wagon was already filling the gap and heading my way and the barb-wire fence and deep ditch barred that route. I laid my gallant monster on its left side and the asphalt screamed in protest and agony as my meta .....

the door. All the peaceful sounds of the wind blowing through the towering
trees and the birds chirping happily with one another all came to a sudden
halt as I opened the door. The children ran around, screamed, and threw
things as if they were unaware of the peacefulness that lay outside. I made
my way closer to the children. There appeared to be hundreds of little kids
looking up at me with me with mixed expressions, only pausing for a moment,
before continuing to make a noise.
It was a large room with a kitchen to the left and it had toys
scattered all over the floor. A door led outside to the playground an .....

Further down, the icy walls creates a shiver at the slightest touch.
The black, elusive ground, makes a sound like a quivering stew. All
around the foundation, bloody clawmarks indent the frosty barrier.
Fingernails screeching fills the dark space.
One, two, three, steps more, and the tail of a snowy bushed monster
creeps out from around the corner. It's ample structure growls throughout
the barren, frozen lair. Once it's boisterous voice has echoed throughout
the entire cavern, the mysterious creature peers from around the enclosed
corner. Waiting, watching with hungry eyes and a ravenous mouth. .....

A shocked, but smiling Julie answered, "Just came to see ya."
"Well visiting hours are over," Cobi uttered as he pushed past Julie and
trekked up the rocky shore to his home. His home! His home was a picturesque
array of hand-crafted pillars and intricate woodwork that beautified even the
aesthetic sandy ocean beach that encompassed it. As always, after sailing
