King Lear: Justice
Words: 2230 - Pages: 9.... to order when justice prevails. Its tragic
labelling stems from the prevalence of death the just punishment for many
of its characters. The deaths of Lear, Goneril, and Edmund are prime
examples of justice prevailing for evil, and in Lear's case unnatural, acts.
Lear's ultimate fate is death. His early demise is a direct result of
breaching the "Great Chain of Being" which states that no mortal will
abandon his position in the hierarchy of ranking set by God. Lear's
intention of abdicating his throne is apparent from the outset and is seen
in the following speech spoken during the opening scene of the play:

In one weeks worth of time of watching the ten o’clock news, I have seen blood drenched war victi .....

After the successful showing, Don is forced to escape from his voracious fans by leaping into a passing car driven by Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds). She is amazed but plays it cool, pretending not to recognise Don and putting down the talents of movie actors. Ophelia: The Forgotten Character
Words: 1395 - Pages: 6.... between courtly lovers in Shakespeare's romantic comedies (Frye 57-8). I imagine that Ophelia's reactions to Hamlet's language presumably come’s not from shock, but from confusion over his sudden change of mood and attitude toward her since the Nunnery Scene. She of course has no idea of the state he is in, and it is possible that she thinks his condition has indeed been caused by her following her father's instructions and refusing to see him. In the conflict between her love for Hamlet and her duty of obedience to her father's orders, she grants to Polonius' wishes. Hamlet, however, is less obedient to the orders of the ghost, .....

it is too late. When Hamlet finally decides to kill Claudius, he sees him
praying and decides to wait longer. The next time he gets a chance to kill
Claudius he takes it, but by then it was too late. Hamlet was killed as
well. He could have prevented his downfall if it wasn't for his tragic
flaw.
Another reason Hamlet is a classic example of Shakespearean tragedy
is because it incorporates the idea of catharsis. Aristotle defined
catharsis as the purging of the emotions of fear and pity. In the play,
Claudius has the emotion of fear because he is afraid of Hamlet knowing
that he killed his father. Claudius knows that .....

The prince of Cumberland! That is a step
On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap,
For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires!
Let not light see my black and deep desires.
