Does Michelangelo'S Talent Still Reflect After The Restorations In The Sistine Chapel?
Words: 465 - Pages: 2.... the end of the video was alot better than the methods of restoring had been. Removing all of the glue and varnish from the past was a good idea and then patching up the areas that needed it and doing it consistantly and using the same style he does makes the paintings reveal Michelangelo's talent and the charactaristics of his characters. Marking and bringing it to attention which areas had the restorations applied to is a very good idea.
I think that by going about trying to get these portraits back to their original style was not only an appreciative thing to do but it also gained us knowledge of Michelangelo and his style of painting. .....

MAD Magazine: Its Success
Words: 332 - Pages: 2.... rebelling against "the system" and not "selling out"
were the ideals of popular culture. The fact that the magazine held within its
covers no advertisements catered to the ideal of not selling out, which drew a
faithful audience.
The second factor is tradition. As is true with most MAD readers of my
generation, My first encounter with the magazine was when I was a kid, going
through some old things of my father's in the attic. I came across an old issue
of MAD and became interested in it although I only understood a few of the
satires that it contained. It is a fact that most young people who read the
magazine have parents who have read or .....

Hamlet: To Kill Or Not To Kill
Words: 477 - Pages: 2.... then, sit still, my soul./{Foul} deeds will rise, though all the earth o’erwhelm them, to men’s eyes.”(Hamlet 1.3.276)
The only problem is that Hamlet would find it difficult to gather the strength to kill. He had the chance and passed it up. However, to him this seemed to be the moral thing to do. He would wait until Claudius had sins on his soul. Why put a killer in heaven. Claudius quickly learns that Hamlet wants to have a fencing match, so Claudius decides to place poison on end of Laertes sword. Nevertheless, this was not enough, they also poured a cup of poison that Hamlet would drink, to insure that he could not escape death.

Hamlet: Hamlet's Inner Thoughts In His Soliloquies
Words: 1116 - Pages: 5.... is the best road to take. Therefore, the soliloquies are important because it give the reader the insight into Hamlets inner thoughts at a given time in the play.
In both soliloquies the idea of incest is addressed. Hamlet was upset because not long after his father died his mother remarried his uncle. As a result Hamlet's mother was actually married to her dead husbands brother, which was conceded incest. "[O God! A beast hat wants discourse of reason would have mourned longer] (1.2.156-157). This quote vividly expresses how Hamlet feels about the quick remarriage of his mother. By the use of animal imagery the reader can see the h .....

Death Of A Salesman: Society's Alienation Of Willy Loman
Words: 888 - Pages: 4.... his confidence in himself and was ready to take
control of his life at a very crucial time. However, Howard crushed all of that
by firing Willy, simply because he thought Willy, "needed some rest." Actually,
Howard never intended to give Willy his job back. He was merely trying to take
Willy's position because he didn't believe Willy could hack it anymore. This is
a reflection of society's present day treatment of the elderly. Younger
generations now, move older people into rest homes and try to keep them out of
public view, for risk of embarassment. This is reflected by Howard's statement,
"I don't want you to represent us anymore .....

BONGO.. Always American Made - Analysis Of Bongo Jeans Ad
Words: 550 - Pages: 2.... is geared towards teenage
girls. She sits in a somewhat sensual pose, leaning forward, with a look of
confidence and achievement on her face. She obviously knows that her hand
is a winner, and that her companion will soon be without even his shoes.
On the table are two glasses of milk. This is one of the most
powerful images in the ad. I believe they are there to counteract the
sexual overtones and idea of risk-taking in the ad. Milk is included as if
to say, "Even though these two young people are probably going to have sex
when the game is finished, they are wholesome, good people." Milk works
much better than using soft drinks, fo .....

The Merchant Of Venice: Is It A Classic
Words: 1002 - Pages: 4.... care about today.
A key theme in the book is love. There are many loving
relationships in this play and not all are the type that involves the love
that a man has for a woman, or vice versa. Bassanio and Portia, Jessica and
Lorenzo and Gratiano and Nerissa are all types of love that involve a man
and a woman, which are of course relevant to today's society. When one
looks deeply into these relationships, they would see parallels to the ones
of today. For instance, the concept that all three marriages will probably
not last, is a parallel to the number of divorces that are occurring today.
More and more divorces are happening and the .....

Hope Floats Video Review
Words: 860 - Pages: 4.... life. She had a big job to do to overcome her feelings and work to get a new life.
Her husband name was Bill. Sorry I did not get the name of the actor. He did do a good job of portraying a very selfish person. He had an affair with her best friend on their living room floor! He was no knight in shining armor. He was more like a Don Juan with only his self in mind. He was mostly out of the picture which showed what kind of person he was. He never even came to see his own daughter until the little girl’s grandmother died. He only came then to ask Birdie for a divorce. Great timing! Not! But it showed his selfish nature. He .....

The Role Of Fate And Hubris In Oedipus The King
Words: 1505 - Pages: 6.... as the Festival of Dionysus. The plays were serious events performed for audiences of all classes. Many audience members couldn't read or write, so Sophocles used well known stories as plots. The audience didn't have to focus on understanding the plot. They already knew the story of Oedipus, which Sophocles used to his advantage. With well known plots the people's minds were open and Sophocles's messages were beaten into them. Almost like subliminal messages.
But what messages would Sophocles wish to push on his audiences?
Well, at the time, the people of Athens were declining in moral values, they were losing faith in the Gods, .....
