Nature’s Significance In King Lear
Words: 1563 - Pages: 6.... that she loves him “according to my bond.” (1.1.102) Cordelia means that her love for her father is based upon the law of nature and involves the clearest recognition of her filial obligations. It is this very law which Lear himself depends on when he expects to be revered and obeyed both as a king and as a father by all his daughters. Shakespeare demonstrate this idea when he points out that at a later point in the play, after Lear was treated horribly by Goneril, Lear express his conviction that Regan, unlike Goneril, knows better “The offices of nature, bond of childhood.” (2.4.202) It is ironic that here Lear uses the exact same .....

in high school he was the star of the football team. One afternoon he

Captain's Letter Regarding Macbeth
Words: 218 - Pages: 1.... thinking. I hope I can write again very soon. I want you to know
that I am in good health.
I feel this is a good opportunity to tell the tale of our great victory
over the Thane of Cawdor and evil MacDonwald. Things were looking very horrible,
it seemed like all my troops had perished. Our brave general MacBeth came from
nowhere to the center of the battle and slayed MacDonwald like the dragon he
truly is. MacBeth took a spear and forced MacDonwald's head onto it and
rejuvenated our troops while striking fear into the hearts of the enemy,
Before the smoke cleared another blaze had started. The king of Norway
and Cawdor initiated .....

The Deception In King Lear
Words: 1472 - Pages: 6.... adds a little twist to this and professes that she loves Lear more than
her sisters and that Goneril's affection for her father "comes too short."
(I.i.71) By uttering these words, Regan shows that her love is even less true
than that of her sister's. She goes even farther to say:
"...that I profess
Myself an enemy to all other joys
Which the most precious square of sense possesses,
And find I am alone felicitate
In your dear highness' love."
I.i.71-75
This goes to show that she is more greedy than her sister and her words are also
falser. She wants .....

Polonius with no feeling of remorse, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool,
farewell! / I took thee for thy better. Take thy fortune;/ Thou find'st to
be too busy is some danger.- [Act III. scene IV, lines 31-33] and then

Understanding The Misunderstood Art From Different Cultures
Words: 650 - Pages: 3.... a specific culture. This is where most of the cultural
boundaries lie. To one person, a smiling monkey can instill a primal feeling of
fear, while to another the first reaction is one of amusement. This difference
in reaction is based upon religious upbringing, and nothing more. To certain
culture, a smiling monkey is the scariest thing they could ever imagine, and to
another, it means laughter. A close minded person viewing an ancient religious
mask would see nothing more than nonsense, while one who wishes to understand
art would see the beauty of that culture and it's beliefs, and would try to
place themselves in a way so that they m .....

After talking with his father's ghost, in the 3rd Soliloquy Hamlet is
angered by the news that Claudius had murdered his father. Hamlet assures that
he will think of nothing but revenge. “I'll wipe away all trivial fond

my brain” (1296), he proclaims.

declination. He castigates himself for not taking action to avenge his father .....

King Creon And King Oedipus
Words: 612 - Pages: 3.... him killing his father and marrying his mother. Situation after situation, Oedipus lets his human nature take over. He kept stubborn in the search for the truth about his birth even though everyone around him advised him not to continue. Because he thought he was justified in his search, he continued and found nothing but disaster. Both the plays Oedipus and Oedipus at Colonus describe what happens to us individuals when we let our human nature take over and blind us.
In the final play "Antigone", the tragic hero is King Creon. In the previous plays, King Creon seemed like a reasonable man who would listen to other people's advice (unli .....

The Crucible: Evil And Greed In Man
Words: 502 - Pages: 2.... the
reader to become aware of the severity of Abbys ruthlessness. Her loathing of
Mrs. Procter goes to such great lengths that she would go beyond the point of
extremities. An example of her demonic acts, is when she mutilates her stomach
with a sewing needle and claims it to be Elizabeth Procters voodoo spell. "and
struck two inches in the flesh of her belly, he draw a needle outshe testify it
were your familiar spirit pushed it in." (Miller 71). From this, it can be
conceived that she would disastrously knock down any obstacle to get what she
wanted.
Another character who brings greed upon themselves is the Reverend Parris. He
